Stems haven't quite kept up with the growing popularity of 35mm bars, but Race Face is working to change that, and the Atlas 35mm Stem is leading the way. It's intended for serious gravity riding, and made accordingly from bomber 6061-T6 aluminum, which is nice and light but still tough enough to take a hammering without getting thrashed. The four-bolt clamp is designed to lock down on your bars without creating pressure points, which lead to weakness, and the U-shaped interface helps distribute the load to prevent failure. It comes in three lengths to help you fine-tune your setup, and weighs right around 160g, which makes it competitive with less durable XC-style stems.

This is a great stem that performs admirably. Combines really well with my race face sixc carbon bars.

I was happy to see this stem go on sale as I was looking to upgrade to a 35mm carbon bar. I love the race face line up and was torn between the turbine and the atlas. I chose the 50mm atlas for its clean and solid look. I'm happy with how it looks and functions. Nice product.

Solid.

I picked this up in 65mm to replace the 50mm Race Face stem that came on my new Santa Cruz 5010C size Large. At 6 feet tall I felt a little cramped in the cockpit. This does the trick.

Great piece for my Yeti sb6 to secure RaceFace SIXC 35-20mm rise handlebars on my bike.

    Burly Trail Stem

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have this on my Ibis Mojo 3 - its the 35mm length used with Raceface SIXC Bars 20mm rise at 800mm width and its helped make a burly trail bike out of it!

I personally have loved the 35mm length paired with the 800mm bars. Its super reactive without feeling twitchy . It feels stable to high speed and I feel that I have great control of the bike. Especially if you're deciding to go with a longer frame, this is a great way to go.

If you're looking to bump up to 35mm bars and are intending on using the bike for more burly trail use, this is a great stem to pair it with. If you have any questions on it or if it would be good fit for your bike, don't hesitate giving a shout at my direct line 801.204.4547 or cojohnson@backcountry.com.

Light weight and looks good on my bike. Make maneuvering easier compared to my previous 60mm stem.

      Go Wide!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

When I decided to go wider on my handlebars I knew 35mm was the way to go! I picked up a Race Face Atlas 35mm stem to attach to my Turbine handlebars and I couldn't be happier! After a season and a half of abuse the stem and handlebar combo has held up very well and shows no signs of stopping.

The Atlas stem is a solid choice for your Trail or #Enduro bike. It's light at 160 grams (50mm version) without sacrificing strength. Like anything else from Race Face, this is a great example of form meeting function.

      Control and Stability

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

When building my new Pivot Mach 6 I needed a 35 mm stem to pair with my Race Face SIXC 35 20mm Rise Bars and the Atlas was the obvious choice. Plus you get a nice topo map of the Whistler Bike Park etched on the side. I am 6'1" so I went with the 65 mm length. The larger diameter on the Atlas makes for solid, stable descending and my wide 800 mm bars add a nuance of control that I am still getting used to. I can't wait to try this new set-up on some lift laps on the Tidal Wave at Deer Valley.

      Pretty cool stem

the race face 35m stem is pretty rad. Its not super light weight but it allows to to put wider longer bars on your bike. It seems pretty bomb proof.

Race Face Atlas 35 Stem (50mm)

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

The perfect compliment to the Race Face Next 35 handlebar that came spec'd on my bike! I've only used it a couple times so far, but expect a more detailed review in a few months.

I bought this because I wanted a shorter stem (went from 85mm to 65mm). Sure enough, my handlebar is closer to me when I'm riding now. My handlebar has also stayed in place while I'm riding, so I guess the stem is doing all I ask of it.

This stem is so solid and burly looking that I always have people ask me about it. With the 35mm cockpit it really adds a cool look to the bike and is very solid. Super easy to install and has great graphics.
