Durable Wasatch Ripstop Pant built for all-day hikes and everyday wear
What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
"I’ve worn these for long hikes, travel days, and around town, and they handle all of it well. The ripstop fabric feels tough without being stiff, and the stretch makes moving easy on uneven terrain. The elastic waist and belt combo keeps the fit comfortable all day."
We pull on the Wasatch Ripstop Pant when the day starts on trail and doesn’t end there. Built by Backcountry for hikes, travel, and everyday wear, this pant balances durability and comfort so we can keep moving without needing to change layers. From early morning trail miles to afternoon errands, it stays comfortable and functional throughout the day.
The recycled ripstop fabric blends nylon and spandex to deliver stretch, breathability, and abrasion resistance where it matters most. An integrated belt and elastic waist provide a secure, adjustable fit, while articulated knees and a gusseted crotch allow natural movement on climbs and descents. Zippered thigh and rear pockets keep essentials secure, and a water-resistant finish helps shed light moisture when conditions shift.

Favorite pants
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I love these pants, comfortable, easy fit. I like the belt is more adjustable than before. Lots of pockets and cords at bottom help make them adjustable.

Super versatile pant
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I love how versatile these pants are. They do just as well around town as they do climbing and hiking. They are breathable and very stretchy as well. I do wish the pants had regular belt loops instead of just the integrated belt. As for size, I'd say these run a little large. I'm normally a Large (maybe like 34 or 36 waist) in other pants and shorts, but these feel pretty baggy on me. I think I could have gotten away with a Medium.

Bought these for my husband for hiking and he loves them. The stretch is great and makes it very comfortable for him to hike in.

Light, techy, AND COOL
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I am just as comfortable wearing these pants out to dinner as I am wearing them for a big hike, or relaxing around camp. The light ripstop material is super breathable, and the fit is comfortable. Legs are a bit baggy but that is intentional and can be resolved with the ankle cinch!

Two Defective Pairs
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I order these pants and after wearing 3 or 4 times casually (not hiking or climbing), the thigh pocket zipper became detached. I contacted Backcountry and they shipped me a replacement pair. Unfortunately the replacement pair, after wearing twice, had the exact same defect. Backcountry refunded me. I honestly like these pants in all other regards. They are comfortable, I love the cinch on the ankle, they fit nicely, however, if you are someone who uses the thigh pocket, like me, then I cannot recommend this pair of pants. If you don't use the thigh pocket then these are dang good pants, though they might run a little on the large size.

My first pair(s) of modern outdoor pants
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I am pleasantly surprised, I actually like them. Comfortable, good freedom of movement. I wear them most days walking/hiking, for gym workouts, and lounging. In a couple of weeks they will get a climbing workout in Yosemite.

Amazing summer pant!
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
These pants are great for multi-day fly fishing trips. They’re lightweight but durable and the drawstring in the waist and legs is super helpful. The waist and the medium fit me like a tapered pant. Could have been large but the waist just a few inches too loose and would have been a bagger fit overall. Backcountry make these in more colors please!

Ordered small, and at 5'7", the inseam is way too long, made for super thin guys above 6ft, do not order these.

Wear this pants for 4 days. Super comfy. Not so hot when 25c and warm in 10c. No odor even in day 4.
