Why We Built The Wasatch Ripstop Pant

"I love bringing these pants along as a second layer if things get cold or buggy. But they're light enough that they're comfortable in hot weather, too." —Gearhead® Expert Jessie

After a day jam-packed with climbing routes and steep hikes, there's still one more journey to make—from the cooler to our camp chair. Luckily, we created our Wasatch Ripstop Pant for demanding excursions and the downtime afterward. Our light and rugged ripstop fabric delivers on durability and comfort, and the recycled materials we use have a smaller environmental impact.

Two Defective Pairs

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I order these pants and after wearing 3 or 4 times casually (not hiking or climbing), the thigh pocket zipper became detached. I contacted Backcountry and they shipped me a replacement pair. Unfortunately the replacement pair, after wearing twice, had the exact same defect. Backcountry refunded me. I honestly like these pants in all other regards. They are comfortable, I love the cinch on the ankle, they fit nicely, however, if you are someone who uses the thigh pocket, like me, then I cannot recommend this pair of pants. If you don't use the thigh pocket then these are dang good pants, though they might run a little on the large size.

My first pair(s) of modern outdoor pants

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I am pleasantly surprised, I actually like them. Comfortable, good freedom of movement. I wear them most days walking/hiking, for gym workouts, and lounging. In a couple of weeks they will get a climbing workout in Yosemite.

These pants are breathable and have just the right amount of stretch. The belt is good, too!

Amazing summer pant!

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

These pants are great for multi-day fly fishing trips. They’re lightweight but durable and the drawstring in the waist and legs is super helpful. The waist and the medium fit me like a tapered pant. Could have been large but the waist just a few inches too loose and would have been a bagger fit overall. Backcountry make these in more colors please!

Inseem too long

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Ordered small, and at 5'7", the inseam is way too long, made for super thin guys above 6ft, do not order these.

best pants out there

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

The backcountry ripstop line is the best, from these pants to the shorts. I wear them everyday during the summer months. These pants are great, I typically put them in my pack when hiking as they are very lightweight and compact. Use them when the mosquitos, it's a bit cold or we've got some serious bushwacking to do. 10/10 would recommend

Terrible fitting and material

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it

I don't know how this poor fitting and cheap material pants got nearly 5 stars rating. I'm about 5'7, 140 and a runner. These pants don't have standard fitting unless you have super skinny legs. The material is cheap not even worth 10 bucks. So, I sent my order back to backcountry.

Comfortable and nice-looking pants

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I bought it for summer hiking, as it's breathable and gives me coolness while blocking the sun heat. I used it for travel as well.
