What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"I’ve worn this puffy everywhere from cold morning dog walks to snowy travel days, and it consistently delivers that instant, cozy warmth. The lofted down feels plush without being bulky, and I love how the hood tucks away cleanly when I don’t need it. It’s not a technical alpine layer, but for everyday winter wear with real insulation, it’s a classic I keep reaching for."

We keep coming back to the 1996 Retro Nuptse Jacket because it blends unmistakable style with dependable winter warmth. The North Face resurrected a true icon, and it shows every time we zip it up for frosty morning commutes, weekend strolls, or après hangs when the temperature drops but the plans don’t stop.

Beyond the bold baffles and throwback look, this jacket brings real cold-weather performance. Lofty 700-fill down traps heat efficiently, while the recycled ripstop shell shrugs off light snow and drizzles. A stowable hood adds extra protection when weather rolls in, and the jacket packs into its own pocket when space is tight. It’s the kind of winter layer we rely on daily—easy, warm, and timeless.
