Burly enough to handle the rigors of competitive enduro racing, the Yeti SB6 Turq XX1 Eagle Complete Mountain Bike is bred to shred the gnarliest lines with six inches of travel soaking up seemingly impassable boulders and precipitous drops that render smaller trail bikes almost useless. For such a capable enduro rig, the SB6 Turq's feathery carbon frame lends a surprising amount of efficiency on longer days in the saddle, especially on backcountry epics where a lightweight build is crucial to conserving energy. Yeti claims their Turq carbon fiber to be every bit as strong and stiff as their traditional carbon, but with significant weight savings in the neighborhood of 9.4 ounces.
This particular build enjoys the rock-solid confidence of an ENVE M70 Thirty High Volume wheelset, which is a worthy upgrade if you're seeking precise tracking across the rough stuff. The truly exceptional XX1 Eagle 12-speed drivetrain arms you with swift shifts and plentiful low-end for conserving energy on the steepest of climbs, especially considering its massive 50 tooth bail-out. Other exceptional components on this top-flight build include SRAM Guide RSC brakes for brute stopping force, as well as DT Swiss 240 hubs for responsive engagement when you're picking apart technical lines.
Beyond its impressive XX1 Eagle build, the SB6 is a confidence-inspiring bike that's a favorite of aggressive riders seeking a composed and confident machine, no matter how rough and rugged the terrain before you. Don't just take our word for it, look at Yeti's team riders putting it through the grueling paces of the EWS, such as Richie Rude and Cody Kelley. The secret to its aggressive demeanor and big-line competency lie within its long, slack geometry, which is a full degree slacker at 65.5 degrees than Yeti's more trail-oriented SB5. It's substantially longer as well, with the SB6's wheelbase elongated by almost an inch over the SB5. This longer wheelbase gives the SB6 unflappable composure when you're opening it up at high speeds, versus the nimbler trail aspirations of its smaller SB5 sibling.
Outside of its aggressively long, slack geometry and impressive build kit, you'll find its Switch Infinity Suspension platform to be an efficient pedaling platform that's unbelievably plush when you're dropping into gnarly sections of boulders and jarring chunder. Yeti achieves this balance through a patented translating pivot that switches its direction as the bike progresses deeper through its travel, hence its Switch Infinity namesake. Yeti's engineers sought to achieve a suspension platform with distinctive anti-squat characteristics while pedaling and climbing, paired with rock-gobbling plushness when you're ripping down rowdy sections of trail. In our book, it's a definite upgrade from the previous Switch Link suspension, which felt a bit harsh on successive square-edge hits and ledges.
