VP Components VP-Vice Pedal

Dirt jumpers, DH shredders, downtown cruisers, and enduro maniacs don't always use the same gear, but the VP-Vice Flat Pedal from VP Components is one thing they can all use happily. This burly flat is made from CNC-machined aluminum, which is light but strong enough to handle rock strikes and all sorts of abuse, and the cromoly axle and sealed cartridge bearings keep it spinning smoothly even after it's been bashed, muddied, and ridden for miles and miles. Aggressive pins keep your shoes stuck on like glue and are replaceable, too, so you can stick more in if you bash 'em out on rocks or stumps.

Great grip

I put these on my mountain bike to replace some clip in pedals I thought were dangerous. I love these, my feet stay put but I'm not locked in place when I need a foot on the ground.

These are great pedals. They are among the grippiest I've used with plenty of sharp pins (removable/replaceable if necessary), just watch out for your shins. They are wide enough for any shoes, and even winter boots. Durability has been impressive - I beat these up in the summer daily and put them through salty winters and after a couple years they are still going strong. If the cartridge bearings do fail they are replaceable.

    What is the platform size?

    Not so great

I'm really not sure why these pedals are so popular or why there is so much praise for them (on this site and others)

I piled one of these into a rock trail riding and completely broke through the pedal. It was a hard strike, but I'm not sure that it should've gotten as mangled as it did for the hit that it took.

As for performance, they are OK, but nothing exceptional. They have pins and a large platform. Big deal. There are a number of sub $50 platforms on the market that are just as good or better.

$80 (on sale) is a lot of money for a pedal, I think my money would've been better spent on something else.

The description says that the black weighs nearly twice what the silver and blue weigh (black 410 gm, silver 208 gm, blue 209 gm). Is that just a typo?

    Hey Zach,

Glad we could chat about this on the phone today. It looks like they just wrote the pedal weights in wrong, it is most likely 410 for the set or around 208g for each pedal. Hope this helps!

    Chu is da illestttttt

This pedal is killer. Phenomenal grip. Adjustable Allen screws if you don't want all the grip for whatever reason. Really nice, wide base. I have blasted these things on rocks and they hold up awesome. Great product. I would buy again, but these will probably last forever.

      Chyeahhhh!!!

These pedals are super cool! Really good grip to all shoes and shins! Adjustable grips and nice wide platform. Hit a bunch of rocks already and they're holding up great.

      Great Value and Great Platform

If you can grab a pair of these while they're still on sale, I highly recommend it. Even if it's just to have an extra pair on hand. VP pedals are not only awesome pedals to use but also great when it comes time to service your pedals. They're built very well, look great from a purely aesthetic standpoint, and are relatively thin while still being super tough. I bought a pair of these without any real immediate need for them and am very impressed and excited to get them out on the hill.

        Great Platforms

These pedals are pretty rad for the price. There is a lot of surface area so it is easy to keep your foot on the pedal. It helps to have the razor sharp spikes as well.
It is really simple to remove the spikes so there aren't quite so many to destroy your shins or if you just want to lower them so they aren't quite as deadly. All in all a great MTB platform.
