Troy Lee Designs Ace 2.0 Short - Men's
Troy Lee DesignsAce 2.0 Short - Men's

Casting a wider net.

Whereas the original Ace Short by Troy Lee Designs was a fitted pair of baggies strictly for high-strung XC racing, the reinvigorated Men's Ace 2.0 Short broadens its appeal to everyday trail riders with a slightly baggier fit and burlier fabric. However, despite becoming more durable and laid-back than before, the Ace 2.0 retains its status as the lightest short in Troy Lee's line.

The original was constructed with a paper-thin fabric that was great for strict XC riding, but it left everyday trail riders seeking a bit more durability for the long haul. Realizing this, Troy Lee overhauled the Ace 2.0 with abrasion-resistant polyester combined with spandex for fluid mobility. It retains the stretch-to-fit waistline, which forgoes snaps for the lightest possible feel and glove-like conformity. The waistline's low-rise fit won't grab on your seat, especially when you're changing body position across undulating terrain.

  • Now appeals to daily trail riders, alongside XC racers
  • Slightly baggier fit, without being sloppy or loose
  • Updated fabric is abrasion-resistant and stretchy
  • Stretch-to-fit waist conforms like a glove
  • Welded seams for irritation-free riding
  • Zippered hip pocket stores essentials

Awesome once you get them on

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

First off, I have a large derrière. So getting these things on and off without a zipper is interesting. I feel that at some point they will rip. Once they’re on they’re awesome.

Thanks for the review, Megan. Have they ripped yet?

Far too light

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I was really looking forward to these. The fit around the waist is perfect, but without snaps/zipper fly getting them over my thighs is challenging. I almost thought I was gonna rip these things apart just putting them on. The material is also much too light weight for me. If I was gonna go for something this light I'd go full roadie and wear spandex, then again as a dedicated endur-bro I'd rather wear a tutu than these lame-o shorts.

Great short to shred in. Not too baggy and not too tight. The fit is key with these short though. I measure a 32"€ waist and I purchased a 30, and they fit perfect. A 32"€ would be too big for sure and with no buckle or string to tighten, it would be a problem. That said, I recommend sizing down. Material is great and the design is solid. No complaints at all. Please let me know if you have any questions on these shorts or any others.

    Best shorts I've ever worn

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Mountain biking or not these are the best shorts I've ever worn. They are cut right, the gripper elastic keeps them up, and they are absurdly comfortable. For their weight they're actually pretty durable, but don't expect them to be bombproof.

Anytime I pedal these are going to be the only shorts I wear and if I had a clean pair I'd probably wear them around town too.

    Light and Slim

These shorts are great. Being a slimmer person, I have been on the search for a slimmer fit pair of shorts. Good fit for me overall. Light weight. I like that there is no snap buckle or zipper. It feels good in the saddle. They hold up really well too.

These shorts are so lightweight I forget sometimes they are on. Good thing I have my chamois on underneath just in case. Great waistband, easy on and off and really lightweight with good feel on the fabric. Doesn't hurt they look good also.
