Climb Pant

Built for the mountains but at home anywhere, these versatile pants give you the durability and free movement you need when you're crushing tricky sport routes, but won't feel out of place when you're relaxing downtown with some post-climb drinks.

  • Durable pants with lots of mobility and a durable construction
  • Stretch fabric and gusseted crotch allow for a full range of motion
  • Cotton content feels comfortable and resists abrasion as you climb
  • Adjustable belt gives you a secure, comfortably-integrated fit

Weird fit and feel

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large

They're baggy in weird spots and I found them too stiff/tick to want to wear climbing. Thought the cinch top would be convenient for climbing but it kept loosening up and falling below my harness and bunching up in weird areas. Instead of returning them, I gave them to a friend that's bigger and he had the same complaints.

Nice pants, but heavy and big

  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: small

I like these pants. They're more of a heavy stretchy soft cotton than. I guess i was expecting something more similar to your typical tech climbing pants. I ordered small and feel like they're giant on me. Very long and baggy as hell. Maybe they're made for taller skinny dudes? Not sure why they fit so baggy if they're also so stretchy. Anyways, comfy!

Good looks, Poor Fit

This pants had potential. In the photos they look great, and appear to have room through the thigh. However, they definitely are a slim fit pant. If you have athletic legs like myself then they fit like skinny jeans, which is not my style. I bought a large and had to return them. I got the Black Diamond Alpine Pant instead and they fit great. I wear a 34x32 Levi’s 547

    I love these pants

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large

These pants are one of my favorite pants that I own. Ive had them for 3 years now, and they are still going strong with no sign of wear and tear. The gusseted crotch is really nice for mobility and comfort, and theyve got a decent bit of stretch in them. I havent done a lot of climbing in them, but theyre a great every day pant. They are also really nicely fitting and not to baggy around ankles and calves. The price is a bit much with Topo, but luckily I got these as a gift.

    Nice fit, poor durability.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

To be clear, I bought my Climb Pants directly from Topo Designs. They don't have review options on their website, so here I am.

Initially I loved these pants; they are slimmer than most climbing pants I'd worn in the past and the overall look was great. Not to mention I loved the idea of supporting a smaller company here in the US (although the pants are made in Vietnam). I even have their climb shorts and some tees from them.

The problem is durability. After just 6 short weeks of climbing at my local gym (that's right, only indoor climbing), I started to notice excessive wear on the knees. I’m certainly not crawling around in them or knee-barring either. For the price, the durability of these pants is a joke. I expected more from a pant marketed specifically towards climbers. The other frustration is the lack of communication with Topo Designs; I've email several times regarding this issue with no response.

Sadly, I do not recommend these pants.

Topo customer service post sale is unfortunately a joke. I like the products, but God forbid there's an issue. I was bounced around (eventually) between numerous employees and still no sort of resolution was ever reached. They basically ghosted me. I like the products, but I'd only buy from a reseller like backcountry, and not direct. Even then I have reservations.

    Not worth the price

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

Had really high expectations buying these pants as I've never climbed in "climbing pants" before. Got them, tried them on, and immediately sent them back. For a slim fit they aren't all that slim, and the material didn't feel great to me. I wouldn't even say they are that much slimmer than the carhartts I usually climb in but I'm sure the gusseted crotch would have been nice. I know these are made in the USA and all, which is nice to support, but I just don't understand the price point. For reference I'm tall and skinny 5'11" 145lbs, so maybe these pants would fit better on other people? Can't say I recommend them. Buy two pairs of carhartts and a burrito instead.

    Ehh!

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Large

Fit was really wrong for me. The pants seemed like they're made well, but nothing else was right in my opinion. They fit too small, too slim, and too short. The color was Christmas green. The price is way too high. I got a pair of Prada Bridger olive pants literally for half the price, and like them three times as much.

    Most comfortable Pants

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

Not only are these the most comfortable pants, they fit and look good as well. Good amount of stretch with a durable feel. I wear these to work, hiking, and the occasionally the climbing gym.

    Great fit

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size

These and 2 sets of shoes were a wedding gift to a friend. As you can see by the photo, they fit great and work great.

    Great fit

    isnt acutally carried

ordered these pants, got sent shorts, sent them back, got sent shorts AGAIN, sent them back again, backcountry never got back with me about the fact they dont actually have these in their warehouse :\ (the shorts seemed nice, too bad i didnt want shorts)

      Awesome Fit

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Large

Even though these have a slim fit, they fit my muscular legs b/c of the Lycra.
