The North Face Men's Warm Zip-Neck Top is your essential midweight baselayer for charging hard on the slopes. And since nothing will chill you off faster than a clammy bottom layer, this 1/2-zip top features Flash-Dry Eco fabric for super-fast moisture-wicking and quick-drying performance. The stretch fabric offers a comfortable and mobile next-to-skin fit, and its anti-odor properties keep the top from stinking out the bar after you've finished your runs for the day.

Heavy, Not Medium

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: XL

I love this top, but it is NOT medium weight, it is heavy. Too heavy to wear as a base layer when exercising heavily, but excellent for working around the house or relaxing after a day of skiing. As with all synthetic garments, it will start to smell after being sweated in. Take the bad with the good!

Perfect base layer

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is a great base layer, it does not smells and its so comfortable

On and off mountain mid layer

I skied Vail, CO in this with one base layer under it and a micro puff with outer shell over it and was perfectly comfortable in the mid 20s temps. Never cold or too hot after a long run. Never felt any wetness either, so good breathability too. I use on cool days around town as well. Great product at a great price!!

    Not meant for tall guys

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Large

I love North Face and have become custom to buying their stuff because of the quality and warranty on their products...however, this one falls short IMO. I am 6'3" 190 and i like the tight feel...however the lengths are horrible....it barley got to my waste line (eye roll)....I purchased a $20 base layer at BJ's and it was better (again IMO). As stated in another comment, the "north face" logo is really small compared to their other logos....

    LOL...barley, waste.

    Not Smelly :)

I use this as a layering piece for many activities. I trail run with it on cold mornings/late starts. I ski tour in this and the 1/4 zip helps a ton with breathing. My favorite aspect is its lower cut and how it keeps odors away. If you have any question feel free to hit me up!

      Not Smelly :)

      GREAT Base Layer

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size

I have pretty high standards for outdoor gear. This is a great baselayer for truly cold conditions as it is thicker than 'silkweight' base layers. Moisture has never been a problem with this as a base. That is the best feature of this piece. The FlashDry is by far the most effective technology at wicking sweat and managing moisture. It is a pricy base, to be sure. More expensive than Smartwool or Patagonia offerings, it also has better results. You really will stay drier and warmer. Make sure you use it with a shell that has good breathability qualities to maximize the effectiveness of this top. The stretch is nice as it doesn't bind and fits comfortably in any activity. High quality seams and zipper complement the other fine features. And I actually really like that the ubiquitous TNF logo isn't branded on the shirt. I would own a couple more if the price didn't prevent it.

      Not "heavyweight" as stated

      • Fit: True to size

I bought this top a year ago and never wore it once. I really don't know how they can call this "heavyweight" since it is medium-weight at best. This top would be suitable for cool weather in the Fall. For WInter, it would be just another light layer.

Also, it does not display the "The North Face" logo prominently as everyone seem to love these days.

LOGO SHMOGO... As long as it's quality, who cares about brand???

      How to Measure:
For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
Measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest.
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.
Measure the hip circumference at the fullest part of the seat, keeping the tape horizontal around the body.
Using pants that fit well, measure the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.
      Sleeve Length:
Measure the distance from the prominent bone at center back neck, across the shoulder, over the bent elbow to the center of the wrist bone.
