Waterproof reliability and everyday mobility make the Freedom Pant a resort essential
What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
“I’ve worn the Freedom Pant for seasons as my go-to shell on milder days. It blocks wind and snow well, vents easily when things heat up, and layers cleanly underneath. If you want a straightforward, durable pant without insulation baked in, this one’s hard to beat.”
Some days call for flexibility more than insulation. The Freedom Pant from The North Face is built for resort riding when conditions vary and layering is the name of the game. From cold morning groomers to softer snow in the afternoon, it gives us dependable protection without locking us into extra warmth we don’t always need.
A DryVent waterproof shell seals out snow and wind while staying breathable during active laps. Articulated knees support natural movement, inner-thigh vents help manage heat, and reinforced hems hold up to repeated boot and edge contact. With a clean fit and durable construction, it’s a pant we can rely on season after season.

LOVE THEM!!!
I have been searching for YEARS to find a pair of winter expedition pants like these. I am absolutely in love with them. I wear thin leggings under them and wear these pants when temps are in the 40's. I absolutely WILL be buying more of them so i have plenty of them in the future. TNF, please, please, PLEASE don't change a thing about these pants. They. Are. Perfect.

These snow pants are excellent.
These snow pants are excellent. I use them for backcountry skiing and snowshoeing in Colorado. I'm 188 cm and 68 kg and size Medium fits perfectly. The dark grey color is perfect, too. I bought and added suspenders separately because they help keep snow out if you fall down. I like the cargo pocket on the right leg and he only improvement I would suggest would be add the another on the left leg. They are also more competitively priced that others I found. Thank you!

Good outer layer winter pants
Would've been awesome if the bottom hem wasn't as wide for city walks. Smooth fabric and waterproof good outer layer not as bulky as the insulated version but feels almost as warm

Nice snow pants.
Plants are perfect for what I want; but the only issue is that the size guide was slightly inaccurate and the regular fit runs long.

Warm and Stylish
Instantly warm! It also looks very form fitting. The extra knee fabric keeps it ergonomic.

Great Mobility and Waterproof Protection
I've been riding in the Men's Freedom Pants for snowboarding, and they've been super reliable on the mountain. They're comfortable, not too baggy, and give plenty of room to move, especially with the articulated knees. Whether I'm carving groomers or riding deeper snow, they never feel restrictive. The waterproofing holds up well - I've sat in the snow on lifts and taken a few falls without getting wet. The inner-thigh vents are great for regulating temperature on warmer days or during hard riding. I also like the reinforced cuffs, which handle contact with boots and bindings really well. Overall, these are solid, dependable snowboard pants that do exactly what you need them to do.

Mesh At The Powder Cuff?!?!?
Where the inner powder cuff at the ankle meets the fabric at the inside of the lower part of the pant is mesh fabric instead of solid fabric. This will allow powder to get inside the pant if you have to do any boot packing or hiking in powder snow. The design is absolutely bizarre for a ski pant. Unless you are only skiing on a warm corn snow day, these pants have a terrible design. The mesh above the ankles serves little purpose other than possible venting which is better achieved through the inside leg zippers.
