You're free to be dry and comfortable.

The North Face created the Men's Freedom Insulated Pant with a regular fit that's equally as at home in the backcountry as it is in the terrain park, and the myriad of pockets easily accommodates your odds and ends as you shred. A waterproof and breathable, DryVent shell serves up protection from wintry conditions of all kinds, and a layer of synthetic insulation ensures you stay warm, even when wet. More specifically, The North Face equipped the Freedom Pant with 60g of Heatseeker synthetic insulation to lock in warmth on sub-zero days. However, if and when the sun comes out to play, the Chimney Vent cooling system funnels air from the StretchVent gaiters to the inner thigh vents to keep you comfortable all day long. And, to round things out, The North Face equipped this pant with reinforced kick-patches and edge guards to assure added protection from sharp ski or board edges and muddy parking lots.

  • Protective, warm, and affordable insulated pant
  • Waterproof, breathable fabric ensures dry comfort
  • Synthetic insulation throughout adds toasty warmth
  • Regular fit provides room for baselayers and easy movement
  • Adjustable waist tabs customize your fit
  • Chimney venting system keeps air circulating
  • Multiple pockets carry along smaller essentials

Tough, waterproof with wide temp range

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium Short

Wore these on subzero powder days (full-on storm conditions), wore them in wet storm (32 F and coming down at 2"/hr), and sunny 40 F days. Comfortable, dry, and warm on the cold days, but not too warm for temps above 32F. Tough fabric. Amazing value.

Snow pants

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I bought these for my dad and he loves them! He doesnt ski but is outside a lot in the winter shoveling snow.

Warm and Comfortable

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

Great pants for a cold day at the resort. They keep me warm all day!

Love em'

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

Great value, love the zippered pockets. Wish it had a back pocket! Comfy.

Great Pants.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

I purchased both the insulated and regular Freedom pants to replace Columbia and Nordic pants. During 5 days of skiing open to close at Monarch Mountain after Christmas when the temperature was well below 0F I stayed warm in the insulated pants wearing a wool onesie and fleece pants.
Great pockets and accepts a belt. Very good value.
Hopefully I’ll see some warm days to wear the regular pants.

You get what you pay for...

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

I am on my second season in these pants. They are comfortable and the insulation is very good. It is just enough to keep you warm on the very cold days, but does not overheat you when the temps go up and the sun is blazing. This issue is durability. I have small fabric tears everywhere. The fabric is NOT durable. It is not tough. I would not say that I have beaten these pants hard either, just normal usage. Like the title says you get what you pay for.

Thanks for your review Douglas! These details you brought up really help customers out when they're looking to purchase. If and when you're looking for a new pair of ski pants, I would definitely recommend looking for pants that have a more durable outer fabric to better fit your needs.

Great pants

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Small short

Bought these as a gift for my father. Wanted a nice pant that was affordable. This north face pant offers the perfect mix! He is shorter so i got the smallest size possibly and it worked perfect for him! I looked at the sizing chart and that worked perfect for finding the right size for his measurmants (small/short) Plus it keeps him warm and dry in the California mountains! Definitely recommend for someone looking for a nice pant that is affordable.

Bomber.

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I use these pants mainly for skiing, they are breathable for those warmer days but thick enough to keep you warm when the temperature really drops. Great pant to keep you warm and dry for all of your winter needs. I also appreciate the different lengths available, I’m 5’5 and went with the Small Short which fits perfectly.

Runs large

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs large

I'd definitely recommend looking at the size chart on these. My dad is usually a size Medium, but in these, he is a size small. The pants are definitely baggier, but the size small fits him perfectly. They are great every day ski pants, keep you warm and dry.

Made for a larger person, nice, not baggy

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large/long

I bought these for my son, who has a muscular build, larger thighs and hips. They fit well. He is 6'0", 220 lbs. I went with the North Face Freedom for him and the Mountain Hardware for my other son who has a slender build. The North Face are much more roomy, however, not baggy, and made for a larger muscular guy.

Too baggy, size is off

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: m-short

I'm 5' 6.5" and wear 32/30. I ordered the m-short. The pants are waaay to baggy The waist was 36. I could fit a second person in there.

Classic

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Its hard to argue with tradition. In this case, the pants that have become a tradition for me year over year. I started using these pants a few years ago and due to a couple close calls with trees, a couple pokes from the poles and some pretty aggressive boots ripping through the gaiters, I needed another pair. Warm enough to wear a mid-weight baselayer on the coldest days, and well enough ventilated that you can wear in your favorite spring skiing conditions. The waterproofing on them lasted me a good two seasons then I was able to replenish their water-shedding-powers with a little nik-wax washing. Overall they are super cozy, easy to maintain and very durable... Even for my hard use! Excited to start breaking in my second pair.

What size did you order? I'm almost exactly your height/weight.

Brother Loves These

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size

Got these as a gift for my brother, and he loves them. He said they fit just right, and keep him warm and dry on the slopes. He also said that they are comfortable enough to use all day boarding cause they don't pull or pinch in any place.

True to Size

  • Size Bought: Medium tall

These work for me. Simple pair of snow pants that are not over-done. I am 6'0" 165 lb with a 34" inseam. The Medium tall was perfect.

Fit just right

Nervous at first, but tried it on fit right, true to size, would buy again

    Too baggy

    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: Medium Long

I'm 6'2 185lbs (skinny legs). I ordered a Medium-Long and it was a bit short, a bit too baggy. I bought the Mountain Hardware Insulated Highball Medium-Long and liked it much much more.

    Great Pants For The Value

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size

I usually try to stick to higher end outerwear from ski/snowboard specific brands, but I purchased these for an emergency trip thinking I would only use them for a few days. I was really impressed with their construction. The fabric is the thicker matte fabric I like and the heel reinforcement was thicker than some of my other "more expensive" pants as well. The insulation is not very heavy, which makes them useful for a variety of weather conditions. These are more of a loose fit (snowboard style, but not baggy by any means). Nothing beats Gore-Tex, but at more than 1/2 the price of a upper end pant overall I was super impressed. These will work great for 95% of days skiing/riding at the resort.

    Too baggy

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: medium regular

Nice pants but too baggy and long. I normally wear a medium but these were too wide in the legs and too long. I returned them.

    Fits the Bill

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large - Reg

Won't win any style points but they do what they are supposed to do. Wore for four days in Colorado with a Merino wool base layer. Temps ranged from single digits with wind to low 20's. Kept me plenty warm. The fit was good, not too baggy or too long. I'm a 35x32 and the Large- Reg fit fine although I did wear a belt. The Large would probably fit a 36 waist perfectly.

    Excellent Pants

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

My 2nd pair. You cannot beat the value, quality or features of these paints. I own a higher-end pair of Gore-Tex pants, but surprisingly these are my go-to when conditions are nasty. Additionally, the fit is great and true to size (unlike most board/ski clothes).

My only complaint is I should have waited for a deeper discount.

    How to Measure:
For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
    Chest:
Measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest.
    Waist:
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.
    Hip:
Measure the hip circumference at the fullest part of the seat, keeping the tape horizontal around the body.
    Inseam:
Using pants that fit well, measure the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.
    Sleeve Length:
Measure the distance from the prominent bone at center back neck, across the shoulder, over the bent elbow to the center of the wrist bone.
