The North FaceFreedom Insulated Pant - Women's

Unchain your passion for winter.

Winter is here and that means at least two things: snow and dropping temperatures. The Women's Northface Freedom Insulated Pant lets you enjoy that fun white stuff without allowing the bitter cold to ruin your vacation. The waterproof shell has fully taped seams to keep your legs dry and comfortable for longer runs and longer days. A toasty layer of insulation ups the game with added warmth, and you still have the ability to dump some heat when you venture out to a couple of black diamonds. You're not going to find yourself wasting time adjusting these at the top of each run, either; these classic snowpants have belt loops for a secure fit and articulated knees so that you can get the perfect springy posture every time.

  • Insulated shell pants for snowsports
  • DryVent offers a breathable and waterproof winter experience
  • Synthetic insulation liberates you from winter's cold embrace
  • Thigh ventilation for cooling off between runs
  • Regular fit so you can layer more if need be
  • Elastic gaiters keep blower pow off your socks
  • Reinforced kickpatch protects from edges and crampons
  • Secure pockets for stashing energy bars and fruit snacks

Great for short curvy gals!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

I tried SO MANY ski pants trying to find some that fit well and I could really move in--I'm 5'2, athletic 140# (usually solidly a 6), and have the hardest time finding pants that fit my big thighs but don't fall off my smaller waist, but these fit just right! It helps that the velcro waist adjustment is on the outside, too. I have room to lunge and squat and move, but they don't feel baggy or sloppy. The warmth is just right--I run a little warm, and wear midweight capilenes underneath, and feel perfect--the vents are usually open to dump heat on the way down, and zipped back up to keep me warm on the lift. I rarely feel either too hot or too cold in these! The waterproofing is pretty solid, keeping me warm & dry in wetter snows and sleet (though I'll be retreating the DWR soon as I near the end of the season). The pockets fit my phone, snacks, cash, and keys easily. And the colors are lovely in person! I've used these for a pretty heavy season of resort skiing (with a whole lot of wipeouts) and they still look great. Definitely recommend!

North Face Insulated pant for Women

  • Size Bought: m/reg

These are comfortable and warm for skiing. Should have gotten the short not regular. I am 5'5 and I had to roll them up. Boo

Runs small

  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: XS

The pants looked great, but did not fit. I usually take and XS with some room to spare. It may be due to the cut, but these were about and inch or two too small at the waist. Length and everything were fine.

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size

I purchased these as a gift and according to my friend they are very true to size and flattering look/design. Definitely has kept her dry and warm during a variety of winter activities in pretty severe conditions, but the thigh ventilation cools you off quick when needed. I haven't utilized the pockets yet, but I would consider that an added feature especially when not traveling with a pack. Comfortable enough to travel in on your way to activities.

    Good Warm Pants

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size

Purchased these pants for my wife to use for snowmobiling in Eastern Oregon. Temperature was in the 20's, snowing and pretty windy and her legs stayed nice and warm with these pants. Wore the pants with an underlayer to provide some additional comfort and warmth. Purchased the Dark Plum and she thought it was a fashionable color

    Solid Ski Pant

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Size Bought: Medium/ Reg

I would highly recommend these snowpants, especially for the price. I'm almost finished with my second ski season with them, and not once have I gotten wet or cold. The insulation is enough for those cold lift rides, but the ventilation can still cool you off if you're doing some bootpacking or snowshoeing. Its a super versatile pant that is definitely a bargain for your budget.

    Great for curvy figure

I must have tried 5-6 pairs of ski pants for an upcoming trip and was just frustrated. Then I called Backcountry and let them know that I needed a pair of good pants for a short, curvy woman. They recommended these North Face and I couldn't be happier (ski trip is in March). The L fit my curves (I'm 5'1" and about 148 lbs with a round bottom and thighs). Loved that they looked good and can't wait to hit the slopes in them.

    Nice pants!

Purchased these for my wife as a beginning skier and they were great. She's 5'2". 110 lbs. The small/short fit well in the waist with a little extra room and were ok on the length, but could have been a little shorter. We tried the XS but it felt a bit too tight on her. Nice pants!

Nice, but sizing didn't work for me

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I tried 4 pairs of insulated ski pants from Backcountry and ended up with the Helly Hansen Legendary Pant in medium. I tried 3 different sizes of the North Face Freedom insulated pant, and want to share my experience in case it helps someone. The pants are nice, but didn't fit me well. I'm 5ft 3in, 128lbs with a smaller waist and fuller hips and thighs. In the North Face pant, I tried a small short, small regular, and medium regular. The smalls were too tight in the thighs and rear and the mediums were too big. The HH Legendary pant fit my body type much better and has a higher rise, which I like. The back country gearheads, especially Brooklynn, were really helpful while I figured this out!

This is my first new pair of ski pants. Just got them in. Very happy. A bit big in the legs, no extra room in the rise. Waist has an extra inch or so in the front. Could be good for someone a couple inches taller, even. They are flattering on my build. 5’9”, 127, size 2-4 pant(usually 2), 34 in inseam is my usual size. Went against the sizing rec to get a medium tall and got a small tall; they fit perfectly. The insulation seems to be warm, but haven’t yet worn them out.

      Runs Big

Great pant, high quality. Does run big but can be good for layering.

      Perfect pant

These pants are great because they are warm and comfortable on those cold days without being too bulky but for the warmer days or when you get a little overheated they have a great venting system. Quality snow pant.

        Perfect Ski Pant

        • Size Bought: Small

Love, love, love these pants. The fit is perfect and true to size. Not too baggy and not too tight. They are warm and dry on the cold, wet ski days and great on bluebirds. The waist stays put without digging or feeling tight.

        Unanswered Question

How do these fit through the thighs? I have an athletic build, and seem to always run into issues with snowpants. Thanks for your help!

        Great Fitting Warm Ski Pants

        • Fit: True to size

The North Face Freedom Insulated Pants are some of the best value ski/snowboard pants you can get. They fit very true to size and are available in different inseams, instead of only regular, which can be too long or too short. They have plenty of insulation and are very waterproof. If you are looking for a really solid pair of ski pants that will last a long time, fit great, keep you warm and dry and not break the bank, these are the ones for you.
