Freedom Insulated Pant

Winter has arrived and the slopes are calling your name. Head to the resort in The North Face Freedom Insulated Pant for a day that can't be ruined when the temperatures drop. The waterproof shell will keep you dry and the Heatseeker insulation offers some non-bulky warmth to keep you comfortable on cold chairlift rides. When you venture out on a couple of burly runs, the Chimney Ventilation system and inner thigh vents dump heat so you can cool off without having to strip layers. The articulated knees offer freedom of movement as you navigate those difficult lines and the cargo and hand pockets store your snacks so you can refuel on the lifts. When you find yourself in powder pockets, the StretchVent gaiters with gripper elastic keep the flakes from creeping into your pant legs so you can stay warm and dry the whole day on the slopes.

  • All-mountain insulated pant for warmth and comfort on the slopes
  • 2-layer DryVent provides waterproof, breathable protection

  • Reinforced kickpatches protect pants from boot, ski edge abrasion

I like these pants but they're too small

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Medium Short

I am 5'3" tall and 136 lb. I ordered the size Medium Short Freedom Insulated Pants. The length is fine. However, there are much too tight for me to even zip up. I am sending them back to Backcountry in an even exchange for the Large Short ones. When I called, the customer service "gear head" was very helpful.

They are worth every penny. Warm and durable.

The North Face Freedom Insulated Pant

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I have a hard time find a snowpant that fits well, but these fit great! Not to snug, but still a flattering slim fit. Good mobility and keeps you warm on those colder days out on the slopes.

    Fit great!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

I tried on so many pants and they were way too smal in the legs. These fit perfect! True to the measurements and looks liong without squeezing me!

    Nice Pants, Runs Small

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: Runs small

Bought these as a gift and found out they run a bit small. Sizing up a size from your normal is probably a good idea.

    Weird sizing issue

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Medium

I bought the freedom pant in a medium tall after trying on the small in the store. I’m 5’9” 130 pounds with a 33 inseam. The small fit nicely over leggings but it was snug around my waist. I ordered a medium hoping it would be slightly looser for skiing . The mediums are bigger for sure. Very very loose in the legs and behind so would probably work for somebody with a big booty and thighs. Only reason I’m keeping them is because the waist is adjustable and if I cinch them on both sides they work. The fig color is really nice and tall length is ok but I wish they were an inch or 2 longer. I really wish there was a size between a small/medium or that maybe there was some stretch to the waist.

Solid Snowpant, runs a little small

Warm and fit great. More fitted at the waist and thighs but will be perfect for snowboarding! Generally wear a 4-6. Definitely run small, the medium fits snug (but still comfortable) but large are too big

      Great for athletic legs!

      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Medium/Short

Kudos to The North Face for making a quality ski pant that fits my athletic legs. At 5'1'' / 5'2'' 136lbs finding pants is so difficult. Ordered the Medium/Short and they are PERFECT especially with the adjustable waist as mine tends to be proportionally smaller than my legs / butt. These are as flattering as insulated snow pants get. Can't attest to the warmth yet but I have a little wiggle room just in case I need / want to put leggings on underneath. Looking forward to taking these for a test run this weekend!

      Great ski pant

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size

Fits great, allows for great movement without constricting me. Bought the long size so I can make sure to cover my ski boots and it worked I've stayed warm at the resort skiing in 20 degree weather.

      Ski pants

I purchased these pants because I was in need of a new pair of ski pants for the upcoming season. I have a hard time shopping in stores for these because I am only 5'2" and stores only tend to carry regular and long length pants. I am happy to say these fit perfectly in length for me! I tested these out the other day for a day of messing around on a snowboard for the first time. I sized up to a large to adjust for various levels of inner layering. These fit great and the adjustable waist helps when adjusting to fit whatever you are wearing under the ski pants. It wasn't super cold that day, so the thigh vents came in handy. These kept me warm and dry, even with sitting in the snow for decent periods of time, between falling and resting. The performance of the pants were great, with as much falling as I went through, no snow got to my inner layers.

The only con would be that it does attract pet hair, but that is an easy fix with a lint roller or just playing out in the snow! Overall, I would highly recommend these for anyone who is planning on any sort of snow adventures.

        Freedom pants

        • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
        • Fit: True to size
        • Size Bought: X small

I bought these for bbn my sister and this is her review:
"These pants are so warm and comfortable. They fit just right and I like that I can get the "short" size so that they aren't dragging on the ground when I'm wearing just regular snow boots instead of ski boots. They have so many pockets zippers which is great. they are big enough for phones, wallets, etc."

        Great for short curvy gals!

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
        • Fit: True to size
        • Size Bought: Medium

I tried SO MANY ski pants trying to find some that fit well and I could really move in--I'm 5'2, athletic 140# (usually solidly a 6), and have the hardest time finding pants that fit my big thighs but don't fall off my smaller waist, but these fit just right! It helps that the velcro waist adjustment is on the outside, too. I have room to lunge and squat and move, but they don't feel baggy or sloppy. The warmth is just right--I run a little warm, and wear midweight capilenes underneath, and feel perfect--the vents are usually open to dump heat on the way down, and zipped back up to keep me warm on the lift. I rarely feel either too hot or too cold in these! The waterproofing is pretty solid, keeping me warm & dry in wetter snows and sleet (though I'll be retreating the DWR soon as I near the end of the season). The pockets fit my phone, snacks, cash, and keys easily. And the colors are lovely in person! I've used these for a pretty heavy season of resort skiing (with a whole lot of wipeouts) and they still look great. Definitely recommend!

North Face Insulated pant for Women

        • Size Bought: m/reg

These are comfortable and warm for skiing. Should have gotten the short not regular. I am 5'5 and I had to roll them up. Boo

        Runs small

        • Fit: Runs small
        • Size Bought: XS

The pants looked great, but did not fit. I usually take and XS with some room to spare. It may be due to the cut, but these were about and inch or two too small at the waist. Length and everything were fine.

        Winter Freedom

        • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
        • Fit: True to size

I purchased these as a gift and according to my friend they are very true to size and flattering look/design. Definitely has kept her dry and warm during a variety of winter activities in pretty severe conditions, but the thigh ventilation cools you off quick when needed. I haven't utilized the pockets yet, but I would consider that an added feature especially when not traveling with a pack. Comfortable enough to travel in on your way to activities.

        Good Warm Pants

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
        • Fit: True to size

Purchased these pants for my wife to use for snowmobiling in Eastern Oregon. Temperature was in the 20's, snowing and pretty windy and her legs stayed nice and warm with these pants. Wore the pants with an underlayer to provide some additional comfort and warmth. Purchased the Dark Plum and she thought it was a fashionable color

        How to Measure:
For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
Measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest.
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.
Measure around the fullest part of your body at the top of your legs.
Using pants that fit well, measure the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.
        Sleeve Length:
Measure from the center of your back to your wrist with arms held out.
