Escape the crowded confines of the city for the star-lit skies and towering peaks of the backcountry with the toasty warmth of The North Face Dolomite 20 Degree Down Sleeping Bag. This cool-weather bag is great for chilly shoulder seasons and milder winter camping, keeping you blissfully warm as you recharge for another day of wilderness exploration. This ProDown version uses the real goose deal for high levels of warmth, and it's comprised of responsibly-sourced down so you can rest even easier at night. Furthermore, the bag's full-length side zippers add ventilation on warmer evenings, with a wrap-around footbox for sprawling the bag flat (as a blanket) during campground picnics.

  • Toasty, lightweight, and affordable sleeping bag
  • Tough materials help resist abrasion
  • Down insulation throughout keeps you warm
  • Rectangular shape won't get you tangled up
  • Wraparound footbox allows the bag to lie flat

One side - no down

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Adult (2)

North Face is a respected brand and to get down at this great price was to good to pass up so I purchased 2 of the Dolomite sleeping bags. My grandson and I were going on his first scouting camping trip. He hoped to get his polar bear badge for camping under 32 degrees. Good thing the temperature didn't get there. The sleeping bag had so little down we were fighting the cold with a sleeping bag with down gaps so big only the outer covering was our insulation especially on one side. I'm glad we had brought several blankets to make up for it. Not a saving grace but the construction outwardly was well done. But, wish it had 2 zippers.
I paid for expedited shipping but only one arrived in time. The other one arrived next day an hour before we left, but that is another issue.

Dynamite Dolomite

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I can't manage those mummy-style sleeping bags. I need room for my legs to kick and flail around while I'm dreaming about executing a perfect "crane kick" as shown in The Karate Kid movie.

The bag itself is perfectly toasty and lightweight and great.

Does the bag allow for your arms to hang out perpendicular in a limp wristed fashion to execute the kick in its true and unaltered form, properly paying homage to Mr. Miyagi? Lastly, did you get the extra long version so there is room for a tree log to fit in the foot box that you can balance on when the timing is just right? Thank you.

Lots of room in here

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

My idea of camping is sleeping my van with a fan or AC if needed. I just ran down for an overnight MTB trip to Moab Utah and needed a bag to keep me warm though the night as the temps get down into the 30's at night.
I bundled up in this bag with a T-shirt and my PJ's and pointed my 12v fan at my face for a blissful night of sleep. At 5'9" 175 lbs with a bit broader shoulder than most I found this bag to very roomy and comfortable, I can't think of a bag that I have used recently with this much room. Granted it is not a mummy bag but that's not the point. There was also enough room to stuff a small pillow in the bag with me and more than enough room if I was considerable taller. I did notice a pocket inside that it looked like you could stuff a phone or other items in if you felt the need. I had a couple issues with the zipper catching on the fabric but no serious panic situtations. I do feel the bag falls a bit short in the temp range. I expected a 20 degree bag to be much warmer than it was. I checked the the thermostat in the van which was reading in the mid 30's in the morning when I awoke. Now keep in mind that I was sleeping with a fan blowing at me.

When packed up it's about the size of a large watermelon or you could say a basketball that's a bit oblong.

Great Value

I LOVED the color and how compact it could get, it fit in the bottom of my 65L trekking bag no problem

    Super warm bag

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I took this bag with me on a trip to Southern Utah and it was used at temps around 30 degrees F and it was awesome. I was unsure about how I would like a rectangular shape over my normal mummy preference but I loved it. It is comfortable, kept me super toasty, I did not want to get out of this bag come morning!

    Favorite Sleeping Bag

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I went through three sleeping bags in two seasons of camping searching for the perfect sleeping bag. Finally I purchased this down bag after trying out two synthetic bags from different brands and it was a game changer!

The down is sooo warm. I am not a huge fan of mummy bags because I have a little pup who sleeps in the bag with me, so I really like the rectangular shape of this bag. It also compresses down pretty small, although you'll need a separate compression sack as the sack that comes with this bag does not compress much at all.

I've never been too cold or too hot in this bag thanks to the dual zippers at the top, making it easy to vent the bag. It also has a small internal pocket which prevents my phone from being exposed to the cold night air which seems to usually deplete the battery overnight .

Overall great bag if you're looking for something warm, comfy, and relatively spacious.
