What wind?

Hurricanes, monsoons, and mountain storms pack serious winds, which means The North Face Cyclone 2 Women's Jacket is bound to become a fundamental part of your "Oh Snap" Adventure kit. Weighing in just under seven ounces, the Cyclone conveniently stows away into its own pocket for easy packing and whips out in a hot second to block wind and repel light moisture. The Cyclone's WindWall nylon is nearly completely windproof (wind permeability is less than 4 CFM), and the DWR treatment keeps precipitation at bay. Not to mention, the elastic cuffs and hem keep sneaky drafts from creeping in and spoiling your jive turkey trail party.

  • Don't leave for your adventure without this jacket
  • Ultralight, windproof construction fights off blustery days
  • DWR-coating helps shed light precipitation
  • Adjustable hood allows for customizable protection
  • Zipped hand pockets keeps phone and wallet close by

Lightweight, but cold jacket!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: size

I bought this jacket to be a light alternative to a full-coat when going on easy-moderate hiking.
Pros:
-It is very light and can roll up, and get shoved in your bag without hardly adding any weight.
-It is very visible with the bright fun peach/coral color.
-It definitely keeps you both dry and shielded from the wind
HOWEVER....
Cons:
-This jacket does not keep you very warm.
I found that if I wore a couple layers and stacked this jacket on top, then it worked well for me, when the weather wasn't too cold.

Deceptive description

I was thoroughly disappointed by this purchase, mainly due to the description provided by North Face. First of all, this jacket is called the Cyclone. Then the first few words of the description are "hurricanes, monsoons, and mountain storms". I went on a quest looking for a lightweight rain jacket and I quickly skimmed over the description. These words popped out for me and I was like, "great, if it can withstand a hurricane, it's fine for the morning showers i've been getting here in the east coast." A week later, the jacket came and my heart sunk. This is nothing but a thin shell of a windbreaker. Which is great if that's what you are looking for, but for me, I was looking for something that would repel moisture in the settings of "hurricanes, monsoons, and mountain storms".

A Legit Lightweight Jacket

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Small

This jacket isn’t supposed to be thick and heavy. It is very similar to my Patagonia Houdini jacket. I got this one because I wanted a slightly bigger size and I love that it has hand pockets (unlike the Houdini). This jacket stops the wind, provides some rain protection, and can fold up into its own pocket. It’s my go-to for hikes and fits in my purse to put on indoors if the AC is on too high.

Packable lightweight windproof jacket

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: XXL

This jacket is perfect for what it was designed for. Very thin and lightweight, it is easy to put it in your backpack or in your handbag and pull it out when necessary. It does excellent job to protect you from the summer wind without adding warmth. I wear it at the windy beach coast or when riding by bicycle.

    Looks great

    Does not look like pic

This product has an elasticized waist that is not shown in the picture or mentioned in the description. It does not look like the jacket portrayed. Also, fabric is very thin and is not what I expected.

    Disappointed #2

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: medium

This jacket was less expensive.. and lower quality than one from Walmart. Don't buy this item! It not only didn't fit at all, it also was cheap and flimsy. Very sad. :/

    Disappointed

While this jacket is less expensive than most North Face rain jackets, the product was extremely disappointing. The fabric is very sheer, thin and translucent. It feels like it will be torn by simple friction and does not seem to offer much protection from rain, wind or chill.
