The North FaceBlue Kazoo Sleeping Bag: 20 Degree Down

Three-season comfort in any condition.

Zip up The North Face 20 Degree Down Blue Kazoo Sleeping Bag for a downright toasty night's sleep when facing wet conditions in the mountains. Ready to handle three-season temps in the backcountry, the Blue Kazoo uses water-resistant 650-fill ProDown insulation for reliable warmth in moisture-riddled environments, and even compresses small to keep the overall weight down. This insulation's hydrophobic finish also improves your warmth by drying faster and repelling moisture ten times longer than your average untreated fill.

The North Face sewed anti-compression pads in  high-pressure areas that contact the ground to deliver an insulating buffer for extra warmth. Its shaped hood and down-insulated draft collar trap your precious body heat when things really cool down, while the anti-snag tape keeps the zipper from catching on the draft tube for a smooth entry and exit. Pad loops give you a way to attach the sleeping bag to your sleeping pad to prevent you from slipping off the pad overnight, and the compression and storage sack make heading to the next site a breeze.

Great three-season bag!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I purchased this bag a couple years ago, and for summer camping and mild fall and spring nights this bag is great! The compression sack that it comes with allows for compact enough storage for backpacking, but I have also used this bag for car-camping trips. For cool spring/falls nights in higher elevations, 20 degrees would definitely be pushing it on comfort in this bag, but if you are looking for a good all-around three-season bag I would definitely recommend the Blue Kazoo!

Great three-season bag!

Solid Bag

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought two of these bags for my kids this past Spring, we have camped 7 nights this spring/summer and my kids have been comfortable on all our trips from the warm nights in the desert to the cool nights in the mountains. The coolest temps we have been in were in the low 40's. With a good sleeping pad (thermarest) underneath they were never cold. The big glow in the dark zipper pull was easy for them to use without getting snagged. They should be great bags that should last for them well into their adult years.

Thanks for the review Dave! Super helpful to get this feedback out to the community.

Great bag for the summer!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is a great for a lightweight summer bag, and it packs down small witch makes it ideal for warm warm backpacking trips! If you want to add some extra warmth, consider adding a liner to it as well! A user under 6 feet will have plenty of room in this, and will have space in the shoulders. Also, the zipper wont stick on you in the middle of the night.

hit me up with any questions!

This bag has sewn-through construction at a vertical (head-to-toe) seam on the opposite side of the bag from the zipper. That is, there is no down insulation at this seam (as opposed to box construction baffles). I was shocked to discover this when inspecting the bag at a local store. This may explain why the previous reviewer slept cold in the bag.

I have this same bag and completely agree on the heat loss.

What are the dimensions of the bag in the compression sack?

The dimensions of this bag in the stuff sack provided is 9 x 17 in. This can be compressed further with the help of a compression sack. We have a few listed on our site.
