Tecnica Mach1 130 LV Boots

Take it to the danger zone.

There's no point in beating around the bush: the Tecnica Mach1 130 LV Men's Ski Boot is a hard-charging, take-no-prisoners, race-bred freeride boot that's not particularly interested in slowing down, taking it easy, or just cruising. In addition to a burly 130 flex, well-defined heel pockets, taller cuffs, and pre-punched navicular areas, the Mach1 boasts the same 98mm last and easy on/off Quick-Instep Max overlap construction featured on Tecnica's World-Cup-conquering Inferno boots. This construction is key, since it makes the Mach1 perfect for lower-volume feet (hence the LV) or even more precise for skiers who are looking for the ultimate performance fit. The sculpted polyether shell provides a snugly confident fit around the foot, while the stiff polyester cuff gives the power to conquer big lines and big drops at high speed without worrying about feeling loose, soft, or wobbly in your boots.

Tecnica designed the Custom Adaptive Shape (C.A.S.) UltraFit Pro Race liner to exactly match the contours of the shell, giving you a seriously precise and powerful out-of-the-box fit that won't pack out after half a season like traditional liners tend to do. The LV uses a thinner and more responsive liner than the classic Mach1 for more sensitivity and less chance that it will pack out and get sloppy. The C.A.S. liner is also designed to be heat molded for a fine-tuned fit, giving you the ability to rip in comfort from the first chair to the last run. A fat 45mm power strap lets you cinch everything down for snug and powerful feel, and the Mach1's subtle canting and flex adjustments give you the ability to dial your stance. When the TechniGrip soles wear out, you can replace them for more grip and surer binding release and retention, or you can swap them out for a full-length pre-canted sole to address any alignment problems you're having. If you like to push your skiing and need a boot that can keep up, the Mach1 130 LV is a pretty damn good bet.

Great fit

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I almost always spend a couple of hours with a boot fitter, the CAS system gives a ton of flexibility, so I was stoked.

I wanted to be locked down, so went LV thinking I could punch out room for my toes. Before taking them to the boot fitter, I skied them hard on a storm day and the fit was was amazing. Nice stiff boot, locked down heel and really comfortable.

These boots are awesome!!

Stiff/powerful, comfortable right out of the box (boots have gotten so much better over the years) and so much customization, power strap design is great!

Game Changer

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Before the Mach1 you had two choices: 1) ski an uncomfortable race boot or 2) ski a high-volume resort boot that lacks performance. NOT ANY MORE. This boot does both those things incredibly. Great flex and fits extremely well out of the box.

I am confused about what shell size to try. I have a good shell fit with a 26.0 in my Scarpa Maestrale and my old Tecnica Explosion 8 had a performance fit in a 26.0 shell. Now Tecnica sells 25.5 and 26.5? Short stock in town so I would like to order online and then go to a good bootfitter

Hey Andy - I would recommend you go with this Mach1 130 LV in a the 26.5 which is the same shell as the size 26. This boot comes with a Thermo-moldable Liner so any boot fitter can help you heat mold the liners for a true custom fit. Ripping boots

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

If you're looking for a frontside boot that absolutely rips, then look no further than the Mach 1 LV. This is my everyday resort boot, and it never disappoints! True performance form one of the oldest and prestigious boot manufactures in the world. Their years of experience truly shine in this bad ass boot!

CAS Shell

No the dimples on the shell aren't for aerodynamics. They are tecnica's CAS shell technology. The dimples are in the key problem fit areas of the shell. They act as a rodemap for your bootfitter to accurately and effectively fine tune the fit for your foot. The dimples reduce the surface tension of the plastic allowing your bootfitter to quickly heat and punch the plastic. The plastic cools faster than the punch will not shrink back. Less time at the bootfitter means more time on the hill in more comfortable boots.

C.A.S Liner

The C.A.S. liner works differently than traditional ski boot liners. Instead of a liner filled with EVA padding that has to push against your foot to hold it in place Tecnica has used a firm material called micro cell that is premolded at the factory to match the exact anatomy of the foot. This creates a foam like fit where the heal and ankle is cradled all over and locked in place but without pressure of discomfort. One of the biggest benefits to this material is that it does not break down. The heal and ankle hold will last for the life of the ski boot unlike traditional liners that break down over time. To this liner can is the most customizable liner on the market. It can be ground, punched, and easily glued to. And the best part is it's a stock liner. Gone are the days of paying $700 for a boot and $200 additional for a custom liner.

More Custom Options than any boot

The revolutionary Mach 1 from Tecnica has evolved. Now available in two separate volumes. 100mm MV and 98mm LV. These are two distinctly different molds, that differ in not only forefoot measurement but total overall volume. The 100mm MV is 7% more overall volume than the LV. Both boots look and perform exactly the same they just differ in fit. These are most anatomical lasts that Tecnica has ever created results in a better overall fit with better performance and lower overall weight. The all new Mach1 boots also feature the C.A.S. (Custom Adaptive Shape) fit system that is the most comprehensive fit system on the market. It is made up of the boot board, liner, and shell and allows the Mach1 boots to be easily and effectively customized to any foot shape.
