Sweet Protection Trooper MIPS Helmet - Men's
Sweet ProtectionTrooper MIPS Helmet - Men's

Don't split your lid.

Try as you might, you can't transplant the brain from your old gerbil into your own head, so you might as well slap the Sweet Protection Trooper MIPS Helmet on and protect the gray matter you've got. You won't find a safer dome piece than the Trooper MIPS, which utilizes an elastic yet rigid TLC shell engineered using a blend of thermoplastic and carbon fiber to disperse impact, EPS foam to absorb shock, and Impact Shield inserts to spread forces over the whole helmet, not just where the impact took place. Even better, Sweet Protection designed it with MIPS (multidirectional impact protection system), which actually lets the outer and inner shells rotate over each other to better observe rotational forces and oblique impacts, which are far more common than straight-on crashes.

The Trooper will keep your skull in one piece when you ragdoll down that line or take that cliff hit straight to your dome, and it'll feel awesome while it does it, too. Sweet Protection hooked it up with a OcciGrip adjustment system that allows you to dial in a snug, wobble-free fit, and also inlcuded removable fit pads to account for the funny bumps on your noggin. Adjustable vents pull air through the top of the lid while indirect ventilation keeps air circulating even when the vents are cold, and the removable microfur-lined earpads will make you feel like you're rubbing your ears against a cat. Sweet Protection even treated the moisture-wicking Coolmax liner with Polygiene, which fights off bacteria so your lid doesn't smell like you've been storing fish in it.

Burly brain bucket

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

With a lightweight construction and burly protection the Sweet Protection helmets have had my attention for a while.
The construction is flawless and came with every manner of foam insert to dial in the fit. I'm stoked about how easy it is to remove and wash the liner! Thats something that a lot of helmets lack.
Some key features are the closable vents on the front and the easy to use fit adjustment on the back, works great with gloves.
A big highlight for me is the way the ear pads don't muffle sound while keeping the helmet secure around my ear, The padding is hallowed out yet my ears don't get cold.
Pros: Burly! its confidence inspiring construction. Adaptability of fit with the extra pads it came with. Light weight so its not noticeable while riding.
Cons: Its a little tight on the crown of the head. It feels weird to remove the ear pads.
I'm usually a Smith Large, Giro Large, FOX Racing Large. I got this in L\XL and its tight on the crown of my head.
Overall I suggest this helmet to anyone thats pushing limits, going fast and taking chances. Or just wants the confidence that the helmet will keep them safer.

MIPS Cant wait to use it!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I have had several concussions throughout my life of snowboarding. This winter I had yet another which prompted me to get a new helmet. This helmet fits different than any helmet I have had in the past. It feels as if there is an initial layer that fits snug to your head, and then the helmet is attached to that "crown." This helmet has adjusting ability in the back, but with my big head, I had to extend it to the max. (I wear 7.25 size hats usually.) Doing research, Sweet Protection seemed to care much more about their helmets than many companies, and then when they add the MIPS technology, I was sold. I love the simple look of this helmet. Feels like it is going to be really warm as well, but haven't taken it on it's first run yet. I feel confident trusting my head and brain with this helmet.

Good Helmet

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Light and comfortable but expensive compared to other mips helmets. Helmet runs a little small I am a 7 3/8 fitted ball cap and the l/xl fits but with no room for a beanie under neath, pretty snug. Overall I am pleased and the look of the helmet is awesome in orange!

excellent helmet

Absolutely is a good helmet better than other brands and feel with better safety assurance for my head.

Great helmet

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This helmet is expensive, but it is made better than all others I've seen. All you have to do is look inside and you'll notice the quality. If you appreciate being healthy and staying that way , this is your best bet. I am a little larger than a 59 (ML) and it fits perfect, so it runs a little large. It fits a uvex type head ( oblong ).

Sweet helmet!

This is my favorite helmet. It is not only stylish, but a real solid and safe helmet. It is very comfortable on the head, and light! I personally like the ventilate opportunities on the front side of the helmet. It makes it the helmet real nice on warm days, and warm on the cold days.
The helmet fits well with almost any googles if that is of worry. I've used Smiths, Oakleys, Dragon and Scott googles.
The MIPS technology is integrated in the build of the helmet, which makes it one of the safest helmets on the market.
I'd recommend this helmet to anyone!
