My Baselayer Go-To

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Small

This top makes for a great, lightweight baselayer layering piece. It's thin but packs a ton of warmth! Its a close to the skin fit which eliminates any folds and lumps in layering other tops. I highly recommend this top to anyone looking for simple yet high performing baselayer top.

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size

Great wool base layer at a good price. Comfortable, warm, good fit. Bought my mom this as a gift and she loves it! Highly recommend. Layering up, always use this and the Stoic Merino Lightweight Bottom - Women's to start.

Itchy but fits well.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: small

I find this top to be really itchy, but it gets the job done. It fits a little tight around my climber-forearms but it doesn't seem too long or too short. It's not my favorite baselayer, because it itches while I wear it, but nonetheless, it keeps me warm when I need it to.

My go-to for winter layering

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: XL

The Stoic Merino Crew has been a go-to winter layer staple of mine for years. It was time to pick up another one. And I'm stoked it's now available in grey.

Lightweight and warm!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is a great baselayer, super lightweight but keeps me warm whether I am skiing, hiking, or biking. Love the thumb holes.

  • Size Bought: medium

Took this shirt as a wear alone or baselayer if needed to Iceland! It quickly became my favorite wool shirt! Just the right coverage for a cool day and the thumbholes are good for wearing or look fine if you don't use them.

Basic layer, not bad

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

My wife like the longer sleeves with the thumb-hole because she can easily layer up. Warmth is good especially for price point.

The prescription for a winter outing

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Not too heavy, and Merino wool is oh so nice. This is an excellent base layer to keep you warm during winter activities, be it Snowshoeing, XC Skiing, Alpine Skiing, or even bike riding on a gold day. Fits great and brings just the right amount of warmth. Merino wool isn't too quick to small funky unlike some synthetics which is a really nice built in feature.

Lightweight and Comfy Cozy

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These shirts are great! They're lightweight (as the name of the product indicates) so they're thin and can be layered under things without being bulky. They're perfect for running around and being active in colder weather, less so for keeping you warm in really extreme conditions. As long as you stay moving, you'll likely stay comfortably warm with one of these under your standard Warm Weather Clothes. They'll tear if you really use 'em and abuse 'em but they're thin wool, so that should be expected.

If you're right on the border between sizes, I'd recommend going down a size - though I like my baselayers more snug than loose.

I recommend air-drying these rather than putting them in the dryer to avoid any chance of them shrinking.
