Merino Blend Baselayer Bottom

The Stoic Merino Blend Baselayer Bottom features a blend of merino wool and polyester that's both toasty and strong, a good layering piece for ripping groomers at the resort or taking peaceful hikes in the snow. Wool helps regulate your body temperature, is odor-resistant, and naturally breathable, while polyester enhances the fabric's durability and helps to wick moisture away from your skin.

  • Baselayer leggings add warmth to your winter pursuits
  • Wool-poly blend is warm, wicking, and odor-resistant
  • Slim fit conveniently layers beneath hardshell pants
  • Australian-made fabric is sourced from non-mulesed sheep

Terrible fit

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: M

Sizing is awful. I wear a medium in every other brand and I can barely get these over my thighs. They stop at mid calf and have zero stretch built into the fabric. I can not bend my knees while wearing them.

Soooooo Small!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: small

It seems the sizing guide needs a serious accuracy check. I order small for cycling shorts, sweats, base layer tights, and thermal running / hiking tights so I ordered a small in these guys. They would be small on a 6th-grade boy.
After forcing them on over my calves and thighs I had to work them up to get the waist band even close to my waist. Once I had them "on" they functioned perfectly as a pair of extremely tight, compression 3/4 base layer tights.
On the bright side; I have 3 tops of the same fabric and they preform perfectly in the cold New Hampshire winter.

wool baselayer pants for my boyfriend

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: L

very uncomfortable pants, they are short, run small, have no stretch and are rough feeling and picky

Buy one size up

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Medium

Definitely go one size up on these. The fit is very tight and short. I have a 32” waist and usually take a medium in every other company’s pant. I feel that the return policy should be waived for this product since it’s apparently sized incorrectly. Please credit me the $6.99 return fee.

Base layer bottoms

  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: L

These should be nice feeling base layers but they have no stretch, are stiff and picky. Plus they are kind of short. For men’s Large size bottoms too they are quite small compared to other brands. If I’m
Able to return them, seeing as I ordered them early for Christmas, I will.

Sorry, no thanks.

This material, whatever it is, has almost ZERO FLEX. I bought these for bicycle commuting / wearing for factory work and they're NOT USABLE. The inflexibility causes 2 major problems: (1) inhibits range of motion on my legs (HUGE problem, even on the 3/4 pant); and (2) The legs gradually ride up so you have to keep pulling them back down (on the 3/4 pant); AND the waist rides down so you have to keep pulling it back up. Bought 2 separate pairs of these, and can't use either one - both have the same problems.

    Very Poor

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Large

The other reviews say it all.

Holes everywhere after a few times worn

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Lg

Do not buy these because the price is great. I have baselayers from every brand out there that have lasted for over a decade and these can't last through being worn 5x. If I could give zero stars I would. I never write negative reviews, but these were just so bad I couldn't keep silent. Don't waste your money. Oh, they run short which wasn't a problem for me but the fact they fall apart certainly was. Buy something better.

    What do you recommend?

    low-rise!

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Large

They have a low rise ie you feel your lower back is exposed (which you don't want on the slopes). The pair of 100% merino stoics that i have have a generous rise. returning.

    Poorly made

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

They fit great, but are useless if you plan to use them more than a few times. They started to disintegrate after only a few washes, and I washed them exactly according to the instructions.

    Little Tight

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Large

Definitely like having the snugger fit. I've had knee problems and having them snug on the leg is a nice feeling. I feel like my muscles engage faster if that makes sense.

Nice material but Cut is off

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: L

The Material is nice but the cut is weird. They run small, the cut is low in the back and the are almost knickers. If none of that bothers you then these are for you.

    Strange length

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Large

These are a bizarre length. I purchased the 3/4 length for use when skiing so they did not interfere with my boots and the full length to wear under waders when fishing. The 3/4 length do not go past my knees, more like an extra long boxer brief. The full length is what i would consider appropriate length to wear when skiing as they fit about where my ski boot will stop. I am 6'2" 205 lbs with a large ass and quads, these do fit tight but do not restrictive. I have yet to wear while while skiing or being active but i think they will do the job.

For those that have been holding out for the Stoic merino line to come back and are familiar with the feel of the previous products, this is not the quality you are accustomed. I absolutely love my old Stoic merino shirts, warm and soft. This polyester blend does not have the same feel.

I absolutely love my old Stoic merino shirts, warm and soft. This polyester blend does not have the same feel." Amen to that. I found it out the hard way. Also the back is too short, like a low rise.

    Too thin

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I didn't try them on since they seemed too thin for keeping me warm. Had to return.

    Strange fit

    • Size Bought: large

Tight in legs but loose in waist. Very odd sizing. Also, these fit more like a 3/4 length base layer -- they only come down a little past halfway on my shins. I have a 32 inch waist and pretty normal legs (I run, bike, lift, etc. but by no means have huge quads). I thought about exchanging the large for a medium -- the waist would probably fit well -- but can't imagine having an even tighter fit on the legs. So just returning.
