Merino Blend 1/4 Zip Baselayer Top

The Stoic Merino Blend 1/4 Zip Baselayer Top features MerinoEdge, a strong and toasty blend of wool and polyester. With the polyester added, it's more durable than merino alone, yet still boasts the odor-resistant and temperature regulating properties you love about wool. A quarter zip at the neck lets you cool off if you're working hard, while the next-to-skin fit can easily be layered upon during particularly frigid adventures.

  • Baselayer top adds performance to your winter sports
  • Wool offers temperature regulation and odor resistance
  • Polyester adds breathable comfort and durability
  • Zip-neck lets you cool off when you're working hard
  • Form-fitting cut can easily slip beneath multiple layers
  • Wool ethically sourced from non-mulesed sheep

Ridiculously small

  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: S

Poor proportions, only for those with bony arms.

Fitted and lightweight

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: M

Like other reviews mention, this top is slim fitting, especially in the arms. Length is modest and the fabric is extremely thin and lightweight. It’s a good base layer, but I wouldn’t rely on it alone to stay warm. My biggest complaint is that the right sleeve twists slightly around my arm in order for me to use the thumb hole. Makes the shirt feel weird. So i don’t use the thumb holes. Sucks because I normally like that feature and I can’t use the shirt that way. Other sleeve fits normal while using the thumb hole. It’s a very attractive shirt and I think I will use it a lot as a base layer for snowshoeing and other winter activities. The sleeve is disappointing but I’m not going to return it over the issue. I still really like the style, quality of material and overall design.

    Read Reviews Before Buying!!!

    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: L

I wish I had read reviews before ordering two! I ordered a size up and the shirt fit perfectly, if not large everywhere except the lower sleeves. And like every other review, its a really weird feel. I maybe could try keeping the shirts, but decided its just too uncomfortable for the cost and there is no way the shirt will stretch out.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: XS

Arms are very tight...strange because the torso fits regularly. Can become itchy. Not something I would return it over, but I don’t love it.

    Strange fit

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

Like a previous reviewer, I found the arms and shoulders to be really tight compared to the body of the top. Probably too tight to wear comfortably. I don't run into this issue all that often, I think this top is just cut strangely. It's also a pretty thin fabric. I could see it being a nice lightweight top but it's definitely a baselayer, you will need more layers to be warm.

    poor fit

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I had high hopes for this top. I ordered it in Black. The fabric felt like a nice blend and the body length and fit were as I hoped. Unfortunately the shoulders and cuffs were way to tight for function. I am a consistent XS in pretty much every brand and that is what I ordered in this top and what I always order in Stoic. Returning it.

    Thin, not made well

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Small

I've had this shirt since July and mostly use it for casual wear, trail running, and climbing indoors at the gym for my first few easy warm-up climbs. It is ripping at the seams on the arms and there is a small hole unraveling on the front of it. The material is really thin. I really liked this shirt initially as a light-weight base layer but I recommend trying another brand.

Great baselayer top. Love the zip neck and thumbholes. The sleeves are a bit long, but it's not a problem since the thumbholes keep them up when I have top layers. The wool isn't too itchy either.

    Garment Sizing:
Stoic gear refers to the size of the person for measurements, so take your own measurements to determine what size you should buy.
    Sizing Notes:
The Women's cotton tees run small especially for larger busts. We suggest ordering a size up.
    How to Measure:
For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
Measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest.
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.
Measure around the fullest part of your body at the top of your legs.
Using pants that fit well, measure the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.
Measure from the center of your back to your wrist with arms held out.
