We love it when technology and design starts to move downward in a company’s offerings. To wit, SRAM’s Force Brake Calipers now look, feel, and function much like the company’s top-tier Red components. They’re skeletonized in design, just like Red, but use stainless hardware instead of titanium, and the brake shoes don’t have the cutouts that the Red versions do. Other than that, it’s quite a similar brake — the same adjustments can be made, and they’re spec’d with SwissStop pads manufactured specifically for SRAM.

    • Two brakes per set
    • Skeletonized arms
    • Stainless steel hardware

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Awesome looking group and functions perfectly. I prefer Sram over shimano, and this group is worth it. This group isn't much heavier than Red.

I Got the Power!* *to stop

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Let me tell you about the brakes I used to have: no trust. In the circle of trust, they were lightyears beyond, somewhere close to drivers texting while passing cyclists, or my dog around a dinner plate (bye, burgers).

These brakes are crucial! No more am I strengthening my grip as I try to control speed through switchbacks down canyons! Nay! Rather, I am able to feather the brakes as needed and cruise on through the corners, confident I'll be able to stop when I need.

These have have such an impact in my riding. I'm more confident and able to crush or cruise, depending on the day and the soundtrack.

    Good brakes for single-speed frame

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought these for my ten year old Specialized Langster set up as a single-speed commuter. I wanted to upgrade it to good quality dual-pivots. Shimano 105 calipers didn't have enough clearance between caliper arms and the seatstays, but these fit pretty well. I got to try them out on the first ride since a big SUV almost cut me off and I had to do an emergency stop. These are much more powerful stoppers than my old side-pulls and possibly saved my behind! Good modulation too.

    It just works!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Reliable, easy to install and solid modulation. What else can you ask for at this price point? The gun metal anodizing is pretty nice too!

I used these on my 2nd bike, My set of brakes has about 3k miles them and zero issues. I would say, I neglect them more than my main ride so the durable finish is appreciated!

Only minor qualm, the chisel look was unique at first but now it's not so hot.

    It just works!

    Excellent performance

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I was a diehard Shimano Ultegra/DA fan until I bought a bike with full Force. These brakes have better feel and modulation than even my older DA or new Ultegra brakes. Great stopping power, and love the adjustor for squeeze tension. One more note: SRAM's Doubletap levers ensure no braking feel is messed up by the brake also functioning as a shifter. I'm a SRAM convert.

    Crisp modulation!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

These are great in a nutshell. Love the finish as well. Lightweight and positive stopping without all the mushiness some brakes can give you regardless of what you do to remedy it. Well worth the money and make your bike blingish!
