Warm and functional

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size

"Nice boot, the size was true and I find them very comfortable. I wanted a boot that would be warm and functional in the snow. The boots worked out great, good traction. I would recommend them for casual wear in cold conditions."

Awesome so far

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: 11.5

Was looking for a good winter boot that I could wear everyday without having the full on Sorel Caribou look (those are great too, I've had a pair for 20 years). I initially picked up a pair of Kodiak's from REI, but the fit and comfort were terrible, so I returned them. Saw these on Backcountry and thought I'd give them a try. The other reviewers were spot on, I normally wear a size 12, went down half a size to 11.5, and they fit perfect. These boots are lightweight, and comfortable right out of the box. The sole is very grippy on icy surfaces. They shed water (it beads up on the leather) which was great as I was initially a bit worried that since they are a "waterproof nubuck" that it might stain or alter the color. They have been warm enough so far, and I haven't had any issues with them overheating yet either. They received a thumbs up from my wife and daughter as well in the "style and looks " department. We've been having a great winter here in SLC, so unless I'm heading up to go skiing, these have been my go to boots so far. I bought the buff color, but as soon as Backcountry gets some more in the Bruno color in my size, I will buy a pair of those too, they are so comfortable.

Great looking boots, good quality

Bought for my husband. Good looking boots with good construction quality. Not as bulletproof as full on leather hiking boots but won't wear out easily.

    Supremely Comfortable

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: 9.5

I ordered about 5 different brand/models of boots before settling on the Sorel Madson. Of all the boots I tried these were the most comfortable. The boots look classy but not too dressy to wear casually. I ended up going about 1/2 size down from my normal size.

    Comfortable and look great.

    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: 8.5

They're also excellent in the winter, they've kept my feet warm and have no trouble with snow or slush. The soles are pretty grippy and handle ice well. Normally wear a 9 and 8.5 fit just right with thick socks.

    Is this a Sorel?

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: 9

I put these on, and the comfort is so good, I really questioned if they are Sorel. These have a much more supple feel and impressive shape than my other Sorel's so I must say, these are a pretty nice add to the winter boot arsenal.
I wear size 9.5 street shoes and 10 running shoes. I got these in size 9.
