Great fit and comfortable don't fog up. Perfect.
Great ventilation, no fog at all even after some intense uphill riding with riding buddy(in comparison his glasses even fogged a little).
Similar review to others that these goggles are legitimate. They are perfect for riding and give you comfort while staying cool. Thumbs up!
I've always had trouble with goggle fogging up on me, whether it's while mountain biking or skiing, but the Squad goggles have stayed completely dry. Even on the 100 degree afternoons here in Salt Lake the Squads have stayed clear while I'm pouring sweat. Not to mention the carbon-x lenses that keep vision sharp and cut out glare.
The trails were getting so dusty and my eyes were suffering badly. These goggles are great for extra eye protection that still allows you a full range of vision. You can wear them with a full face or just with your trail helmet. Protect your eyes, you've only got two!
I'm not one to wear eyewear when I ride, I usually get frustrated with fogging and feel that I can see the trail better without goggles or glasses.
That being said these goggles have begun to change that. The vents along the top of the goggle allow them to stay cool even when you're exerting yourself. I even wear them on some trail rides, that's how well they breathe. The chromapop lenses are really impressive, the dark black lens I have on my Semenuk AC's even works great in the trees. I find that it really helps cut the glare when going in and out of strong sunlight.
I love that smith includes a free clear lens as well. Replacement lenses are almost as much as a new set of goggles so it's nice to have a spare ready to go.
I use these for lift days and I love them. They keep your face cool and the chromapop tint is great. Would definitely recommend to all mountain bikers
Don't let watery eyes and dust slow you down, these goggles provide a great fit and look awesome!
Will these fit over prescription glasses?
Wicks away sweat with ease, adjustable silicone lined strap which doesn't even need a goggle holder on your helmet, and lightweight.
OK, so the reality is that when you are riding your bike if you look good then you must be fast! (or thats what they keep telling me ) I got these for Enduro racing and riding bike park and thay are far more breathable than my old MTB goggles. Super breathable, great venting and doesnt overheat! Plus having 2 lens' is a great selling features, I can't believe how affordable they are too!
These are excellent goggles, scratch resistant and the lenses provided work well for all conditions. I will buy another pair when the time comes but I don't see that coming any time soon.
If you want to join the ranks of Aaron Gwin, Brandon Semenuk, Brett Rheder and Cam McCaul - start by picking up a pair of the Smith Squad MTB goggles.
I had the pleasure of meeting the genius behind the design of these goggles during Outdoor Retail week here in Salt Lake City at an awesome Metallica cover band pre-game (at an undisclosed location). I gave this madman props for designing the best MTB goggle I have ever worn.
I pair this up with my POC Tectal Race helmet when I get out for some DH or dusty runs here in Park City/Deer Valley and found these to perform incredibly well.
Pros:
1) Affordable: At $60, you can't even buy a pair of nice sunglasses for that much.. you're telling me I only have to pay $60 for these?!
2) Bonus lens: NOT one, but TWO lenses. One colored and one clear for various riding conditions. Super easy to swap them out as well - hit me up if you need assistance figuring this out.
3) Steeze: These look and feel good on the face. I would imagine they work best with a full face, but I'm digging them so far.
4) Ventilation: I admit it, I am a head sweater for sure. These keep my face fairly cool and breathe well.
5) Anit-fog: Never had one issue with these fogging up.
Cons:
1) Most of the options are currently backordered: No need to worry... Reach out and I can let you know when we might get in more!
How do you swap the lenses?
Great goggles with excellent ventilation! They haven't fogged up all summer and breathe quite well. No complaints
I spend my time mostly trail riding, but will definitely get some freeriding/shuttling/bike park laps in. I'll wear them for all of the above, though usually just the downhill if trail riding! I pair them with a Smith Forefront helmet and the fit is practically perfect and a Giro Cipher, which has just slight gaps to the sides, but is covered by the strap and barely noticeable. They're a medium sized goggle and would likely fit most faces.
Pros:
-I wear contacts and even with shades on I am afraid of getting dirt or trail gunk in the eye (or even just them drying out). These are a solid way to prevent that from happening. They're protective and breath well. The ventilation is really pretty impressive - its open vents as opposed to how ski goggles have foam on top of the vents.
-I've climbed a touch with them on the face (with a half shell) and they didn't even fog! Was pumped to see that. Even waiting around post climb there wasn't really anything and even if there was, it would likely disappear with some air flow.
Cons:
- If you're going to climb with them when wearing a full face and bumped up on top of the helmet, make sure to flip them around your neck or backwards on the helmet so they don't get fogged up. Doing climbs with a full face isn't a scenario that happens often, but something to note.
If you're looking for a pair of goggles to rip bike park laps in or go full enduro, let me know and I'd be happy to help with any other questions or put in an order for you! Plus, like the photo below shows, you'll be able to get "like 3 feet of air that time!" like Pedro from Napoleon Dynamite.
I finally got out to the bike park to ride with my new Smith MTB's I got two months ago. It was a cloudy day so I brought my clear lenses with me just in case. It turns out I didn't need to worry. The tinted lenses gave the woods just the right amount of clarity! The dust and bugs were no match for these goggles! I was worried about the vents but they worked out great! Nice and cool while riding and my eyes were still well protected and happy. I'm digging these goggles!
Thanks for the review! Glad to hear you're loving them!
If you have ever had a problem with sweat getting into your eyes on those hot summer days then you need to look at these. The vents are huge and after running these I have found that I dont have that problem any more. The fit is perfect for a variety of helmet and face sizes and shapes. Give em a try.
