Keep your head on a swivel.

Before stepping up how hard you send it on the mountain this winter, make sure you strap up the Smith Pivot MIPS Helmet. Designed with contemporary styling for progressive riders and skiers, the Pivot MIPS helmet improves durability and multi-protection for charging hard all over the mountain, in and out of bounds.

The Multi-directional Impact Protection System (MIPS) allows a small rotation of the outer shell relative to the liner when your head hits at an angle in order to decrease rotational forces, reducing potential damage to your brain. The Bombshell PLUS construction and Multi-Impact EPP liner provide long-lasting durability through multiple yard sales, while the AirEvac 2 and Airflow climate control systems ensure that your head is always at just the right temperature.

Awesome helmet

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I really like the function, and look, of this helmet. It's very comfortable fits nicely with my Smith IO/X goggles. I also appreciate the style of the helmet, which is closer to a skate lid but with sufficient venting. I've also had the displeasure of testing the helmet on a few occasions this season and it did a great job.

    The most comfortable helmet

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is the most comfortable helmet that has ever crowned this dome. It fits perfectly with any other smith google combination and makes wearing a helmet a treat rather than a burden that makes you look funny. Do yourself a favor spend the few extra bucks and get the Pivot MIPS.

    Great helmet!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I used this helmet for snowboarding and skiing this winter and it has been excellent! I wear the this years Smith I/O 7 goggles with this helmet and the fit is excellent. Great ventilation system between the two so my head was warm but not too hot and my goggles never fogged up. The one issue I did have was the ear pads being too tight on my ears. To fix this, I unzipped the zipper along the padding and removed the foam in the earpads (the circular portion that needs to be removed when connecting an audio system). Now the helmet feels great. I ordered the Large size as I measure my head circumference at 23.5 in. I'm 6'1" and 180 lbs. I definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for a great snowboarding/skiing helmet. If you have any questions feel free to reach out.

    love it

    Best helmet

I don't like helmets, but I like this one. Great technology. Great comfort. Lightweight. This and the Maze by Smith make the transition to helmet's so easy.

This helmet is perf. Light enough to throw in your touring pack, substantial enough for regular abuse at the resort, and it looks good with goggles worn both under and over the helmet. The ventilation is a bit better than the Maze helmet and lends a less bubble-head-y look IMHO.

And just a tidbit from someone with a BS in Neuroscience--buy yourself a goddamn MIPS helmet. Your brain is way too cool and precious and important to wear a low quality, beat up, or old helmet (or worse, none at all). Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBIs, as the young folks call them) are far too terrifying to protect against. Now don't roll your eyes at me, or you're grounded for a week!

would this helmet work with Smith Audio that you can buy for 39.99? do they also have zipper pockets?

        Hey Carson,

The Smith Pivot MIPS Helmet has zippered pockets in the ear pads to accommodate the Smith Outdoor Tech Wired Audio Chips (Item # SMI00B9) available for $39.95. Feel free to contact me directly with any more questions about Smith Helmets.
