Either law school or medical school.
If your little ripper disappears into the park every time you ski together, get the Smith Kids’ Holt Jr. Helmet to protect your grom's law school-worthy mind. The Bombshell ABS hard shell and molded EPS foam liner are what you want in between your kid’s noggin and a steel rail, and the skate-inspired design is what the half-pint shredder wants to blend with friends. The AirFlow Climate Control makes sure he wears this helmet on the warmer days with rock-hard landings, and the AirEvac ventilation reduces goggle fog by routing air from the forehead out the top vents. The Holt Jr. doubles as a skate/bike helmet in the summer because of an included convertible pad kit and the removable goggle clip.

Great first helmet
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I purchased this helmet for my 5 year old who is absolutely on the smaller side from a size perspective. He absolutely liked the purple color which is one additional fun element to get him excited about getting on the mountain. I would say the fit is just a little too large and I'm not completely stoked on the size adjustments. This helmet provides a snap to tighten or loosen the fit but I think I prefer the dial adjustment found in other helmets. Other than those details the quality of the helmet seems great and I think he should be able to wear this for at least 3 seasons. The first day he wore this helmet it was really cold and he didn't complain about being cold so I assume it has pretty good insulation.
Great helmet at a fair price
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
I bought this for my daughter to keep her noggin protected while I teach her to ski, and, almost as importantly, to keep her comfortable while she learns.
The helmet fits great, and my daughter's head is pretty normally sized. There aren't any gaps, and it doesn't wobble around on her head. Just sits comfortably like it should.
I also bought a pair of goggles at the same time and they fit into this helmet quite well. No real gaps to worry about, and the goggles aren't too tight within the helmet.
The helmet seems well built and doesn't seem to have any uncomfortable edges or jutting protrusions that'd upset a small skier.
I think the helmet is reasonably price, and considering it does a better job than a hat at both protecting kids' brains and at keeping their head and ears warm it's a great deal.
