Midweight kids’ merino baselayer for reliable warmth, breathability, and next-to-skin comfort
What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
"The Merino 250 Baselayer Crew is my go-to for kids because it keeps them warm on the chairlift but never clammy when they’re moving. Parents love that it doesn’t hold odor and still looks great after multiple washes. Just size up—it runs a little small."
Cold days on the hill call for a base that works as hard as your little one plays. The Smartwool Merino 250 Baselayer Crew Top delivers breathable warmth with the natural performance of 100% merino wool. This midweight layer regulates temperature, wicks moisture, and resists odor, keeping kids comfortable from first tracks to après cocoa. Flatlock seams prevent irritation under jackets and bibs, while the form-fitting cut layers easily for all-day winter adventures.
Whether they’re racing their friends down the groomers, taking on their first terrain park laps, or simply building a snow fort in the backyard, this baselayer ensures they stay cozy and ready for more.

Sizing is off, disappointing
Quality is good as all Smartwool products but not true to size. Got size L for my almost 11 years old, average weight and height, not skinny but not fat. it’s very short everywhere even for my skinny 9 years old

Perfect Baselayer
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
Those are perfect kid base layers for various sport activities ranging from winter sports, hockey, but also outdoor soccer when it is still chilly. Top quality, no changes after washes. They run a little small so I'd recommend to take one size up.

Great product, sizing way off
Took measurements of my child and he fit well within the range of the size MEDIUM. However, they were incredibly small on him and the sizing is off. Had to return and would not receive a replacement in time for when it was needed.
