New layers!

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I purchased new merino wool layer for a river trip in February. I loved them. Just an added layer to my fleece layer but they were Perfect. Can wait until they are the only layer under my drysuit.

My favorite baselayer!

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I love my Smartwool Classic Thermal Merino base layers! They are soft, super warm (especially given their thickness), retain their shape, and don't get stinky, even after multiple wears between washes. I wear them downhill skiing, touring, and under my street clothes at night. I normally wear an XS, but I sized up in both the bottom and top.

They're soft, but don't hold in heat

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I really wanted to like these! They're a great color, they fit under my other pants nicely, and they are super soft. However, it added zero warmth to what I was wearing. It actually held in cold more than it kept me warm. Also, it really attracts and holds onto pet hair.

don’t waste your $$$$

runs small, weirdly tight on my calves. itchy. too short. attracts EVERYTHING so they easily become covered in hair lint etc. don’t like the rise (wish it was higher). they do a decent job of keeping me warm but they’re so uncomfortable i don’t like wearing them. wish it was easier to make a return.

Doesn't hold up

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I've owned several pairs of these. Unfortunately they keep ripping out at the crotch and knees after only 6 or so months of wear (skiing, biking, hiking). I supposed I expected better quality for the price.

did not last

I bought this item to layer under ski pants. I am an avid skier and they did not last more than 10 uses. Two holes developed on the leg. (no falling the day the holes developed!) So sorry they can't be returned! Way too expensive for that little of use!

i bought the wrong size

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it

I'm 5'6" and about 128lbs and ordered a small, athletic build, not big hips or butt. It was too tight (and I generally like my baselayer to NOT be loose), but I need a medium. If you're about my size, go with a medium.

Fit is a little weird

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I bought an XS originally and returned it because it was too tight in the waist and ankles (although I?m tall so the ankle really landed mid-calf). I figured the saggy crotch was because I couldn?t pull the waistline high enough. Small is a little too lose and doesn?t hold well to my waistline so I still end up with a saggy crotch. It would be awesome if this came in tall sizes with longer legs. It IS cozy and warm, and thick enough to wear on its own without being see thru. It was a little itchy after it?s first wash but that didn?t last. I pretty much wear these daily since I got them and they don?t smell.

Smart wool base layer 250 pants

I am 5?8? 120 lbs. and got an XS originally. They fit well for layering but I wanted them as lounge pants, pj?s. I returned for a small and have extra room but not big at all. The black looks nice enough to wear out and about.
