Don't leave home for a day of exercise and exploration without your Smartwool Merino Sport Ultra Light Vest. This lightweight outer layer is built to resist weather and wind without adding too much heat to your layering system. The nylon outer allows it to remain resistant to weather while the strategically body-mapped Sport 150 mesh releases heat and wicks moisture to keep you performing at your best.

  • Lightweight shell for windy or wet days spent exercising
  • Nylon outer material is wind and weather resistant
  • Body-mapped Sport 150 mesh boosts breathability to keep you cool
  • Packs into its own chest pocket so you always have room for it
  • Reflective elements boosts visibility on trails and streets

Nylon? Yes - Wool? Kinda

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: medium

Others have mentioned, but note that this is mostly a nylon windbreaker. There is a small amount of wool under the arms and around some of the back. If you look at the gray, the "wool" is the black portion. It appears that the wool is for fashion and not function. For a nylon vest that is fashionable, I simply cannot invest this much coin - back it goes.

Just why?

This vest is completely useless. I didn’t get into the fine print and thought I got a good deal from a good company in Smartwool. This is actually a single layer of plastic with a couple vents, as if someone took my ultralight rain jacket and sewed the pockets shut, cut off the sleeves and hood then cut a hole in the back.

No product has ever been more disappointing.

Genuinely, I can’t imagine what purpose this serves.

It’s so useless I can’t even give it to the dog.

    Real thin!

Nice wind breaker material but thinner than what I wanted. I was looking for a base layer weight vest and ended up going with this one: https://www.backcountry.com/icebreaker-tech-trainer-hybrid-vest-mens#wall-solicitations

Same here... returned it. It’s a windbreaker with no insulated material.

This would be a fine option if that is what you’re looking for

    How to Measure:
For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
    Chest:
Measure under your arms, around fullest part of chest and back circumference.
    Waist:
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.
    Hip:
Stand with feet together and measure around the fullest part of the hip.
    Arm Length:
With elbow bent slightly, measure from center back of neck, across top of shoulder, to elbow and down to wrist bone.
    Inseam:
Measure along inside leg from crotch to ankle bone. Or using pants that fit well, measure the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.
