SimmsRivertek 2 Boa Boot - Men's

Fine-tuned to a fisherman's delight.

Look no further than the Simms Men's Rivertek 2 Boa Wading Boot for hard-packed performance from the trail to the fishing hole. Waterproof synthetic leather helps keep your feet dry, while TPU provides the boot with long-lasting protection. Simms partially lined the Rivertek in neoprene for warmth, cushioning, and an easy on-and-off capability. Boa dials a secure fit for a sock-like performance, and the StreamTread sole keeps a solid grip on slippery stones and rocky trails.

Perfect river boot!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

By far the best waterproof boots I have tried. The Boa closure system is amazing, far superior to any lace based design!

Huge Improvement over Wet + Frozen Laces

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

With laces, I would occasionally have to retie or occasionally tuck them back into my gravel guards. The Boa removes the excess laces and getting snagged on rocks or getting inadvertently untied. Even better is that the Boa does away with wet, muddy or frozen laces on multi day trips and are much easier to hose down and clean. The only down side is that the Boa doesn't last forever. The wire Boa material does wear down after time and starts to fray, but the rest of the boot does too so I've been running a new pair just shy of every two years with a considerable amount of hiking and fly fishing. Still very durable and highly recommended.

Do I order regular shoe size or up one

I usually wear a size 8.5 in mens...

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I typically wear a size 8.5 in most shoes, so I bought a size 9 boot thinking they'd fit. After 10 minutes of wearing the boots in my waders at my desk, my feet started to hurt. I definitely needed to go up a size. My BackCountry rep helped me out there and I got a size 10. Definitely the better choice. The size 10's fit me great.

For reference, the waders I'm wearing are Orvis Silver Sonics in size large, short. The booties in them are a little large for my feet, but they fit well if I'm wearing thick wool socks.

So far, I've warn the boots twice. I can't imagine going with anything other than the Boa system - that's so convenient that I wouldn't consider going with laces even though, as a rule, I don't like extra complexity.

Also as info, the exchange for a large size was painless with BackCountry!

So Far So Good

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I went out to the warehouse store and was looking to purchase a pair of wading boots and had not considered these boots with the BOA System. The young lady that was helping me suggested these, telling me she uses them and how quick and easy they are to put on and take off. She was right the BOA System is really slick, in and out with a pop of the dial. I have used them about a 1/2 dozen times since purchase and at this point I am really happy with them. The other reviews I have read suggest that the wires will break eventually, hopefully not right away. Traction and grip is good and these are probably as comfortable as a boot like this can be. So Far So Good.

Simms Rivertek 2 boots

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

These are my first fly fishing boots and they work great! I was a little hesitant on the boa system since many other people say they are unreliable. Boa has a lifetime warranty on them so I already got 2 repair kits for free just in case anything happens. These boots do fit pretty big, i am a size 9 regular shoe and went with a 10 but probably couldve gotten away with a 9 for how big they are.

Simms are great as always

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Simms makes a great product. This is my second pair of the river tek boots. The first pair lasted through about five years of heavy use and it feels like these ones will have a similar lifespan. The star cleats make the boys that much better but wear out quickly.

Dang Daniel are those some fly boots?

These are very good boots they are so comfy and easy to get off and on! They need to come with spikes though it's BS you have to order them separately! I busted my arse with out the spikes! Get aluminum bars or spikes with purchase and I'll give 5 stars until then they get 4

    In and Out with Ease

Simms does a couple things really well, that's waders and boots. I bought these for my dad and have a couple of guiding buddies who have worn these boots also and not too many complaints.

The Boa lace system is really great and super easy to use. The Vibram soles that come with Simms Boots are also really comfortabel and easy on the environment with how quickly they dry. Moreover, the bottom of these boots are designed to easily insert and detach studs for extra grip.
The synthetic material also withstands all the different elements you will encounter while out on the stream and will keep you looking fly while drifting some #20 Griffith's gnats to noses on the upper Roaring Fork.

Only complaint I have recieved from these boots is that the BOA system will eventually break on you, and if you are fishing/ guiding close to 200 days a year these laces are only going to last you a season. Once they break you can buy a new replacement system, but it wont be as cheap as buying a pair of regular laces.

These boots are great the one downfall is just that the BOA laces may fail on you after they have reached their life. However, if you are fishing around 50 days a year these are going to be the boots for you with how well they fit, grip, and lace up in an instant

These are a significant upgrade from my first wading boots. The boa is convenient and easier to use with gloves on. The ankles are also more supportive than other boots, so walking on uneven stream beds is much easier now. In sub-freezing temperatures, my feet also stayed warm enough to last a full day (which had been a problem in the past). I ordered the 9 and there is room for my 8.5 foot with waders.

        No more wet, muddy laces

I bought these for my teenage son and he loves them, the quality and durability you come to expect from Simms with the easy lace up and lace off Boa system makes these a go to. My son loves the fit and ease of getting in and out of his boots.

The Boa was the selling point on these, I have ski boots and cycling shoes that also use the boa. Cinches tight. Legit!
