It all started with freewheels. The year was 1921 when Shozaburo Shimano established Shimano Iron Works, in Sakai City, Japan. It's a city steeped in metalworking history—once a major center for sword making and still home to a thriving cutlery industry, it's a fitting birthplace for Shimano. Having access to a world-class workforce allowed the company to build its first product, a high-quality freewheel, which required manufacturing techniques that at the time were cutting edge. <p>If you're lucky enough to make it a few seasons without destroying your rear derailleur from a rock strike, unfortunately the pulley wheels will still wear out. If your bearings are feeling notchy, or the pulley teeth have rounded out, it's in your best interest to replace them to get the best shifting performance out of your drivetrain. These are genuine Shimano replacement pulleys for the XT M8000 11-speed mountain rear derailleur, sealed bearings included. Each kit includes two pulleys, enough for one derailleur.</p>
