    SH56 SPD Cleat Set

Clip in and get going with the Shimano SH56 SPD Cleat Set. Designed to pair with Shimano SPD pedals, these cleats are multi-release so you can clip out by twisting your foot to either the inside or outside of the pedal. With the option to lift and twist your heel to unclip, these cleats are a great choice for anyone just getting into the clipless pedal game and anyone just looking for quick, easy clip out functionality. Keep in mind that these cleats are not compatible with SPD-style pedals that are not Shimano branded.

    • Multi-directional release two-bolt cleat for two-bolt shoes
    • Unclip towards the bike or away for added convenience and safety
    • Compatible with all Shimano SPD pedals, except the M858

    LOVE these cleats

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I came to mtb from road cycling and kept crashing on the trails because I couldn't get my foot out fast enough, especially on more technical terrain. I was using the SH-51 cleats at the time. A friend told me about the SH-56 and I have never gone back. I love that the cleat releases quicker and it's great for someone new to mtb. I will say that I'm more experienced now on the mtb and have noticed many times that my foot will release sometimes when I don't want it to, but for me I'd rather have the assurance that I'm able to get out of my pedal than to be crashing every ride because I can't get it out.

    Shimano SH56 SPD Cleat Set

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These work great with my spd pedals!

    Good replacement set

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I like to dab a little bit of thread locker on the bolts before putting them on my shoes. I have had several work their way loose over the years and its a scary feeling to twist and not be able to remove a foot.

    Pop out pretty easy...

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Just remember these are the models that allow you to release more easily. If you're riding trails and want that power on the up-pull, this isn't the right pair... you'll detach from the pedal with little force. But that's what they are supposed to do.

Does what it's supposed to do.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I got these for my touring bike and giro shoe set up. The clips do what they're supposed to and keep my feet on the pedals. No issues getting in or out of the clips.

    pop out

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The 56s pop out super easy, almost too easy some times. If your looking for more of a locked in feel the 51s are the way to go.

    Rubber side down

These cleats work great. They release in those sketchy moments when my previous standard Shimano cleats would have me wreck or tip over. They do have a tendency to come un-clipped more unexpectedly, but I prefer that over wrecking. I found that compared to the standard black cleats, you need to add two rounds of preload to the SPD pedals.

      Great Set of Cleats

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size

I bought these to use with my Pearl Izumi X-Alp Launch II Mountain Bike Shoe and they have been working out great for mountain biking. I'm even using them on some older pedals that came on the mountain bike I purchased and they married well with no adjustment.

      Shimano SH56 SPD Cleat Set

Super durable and easier to release than previous versions

        peddle clips

Got rid of my none adjustable clip pedals and went with SPDs. Much safer. Clips work fine.

          1st Clips

          • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Read many reviews and decide this is the one for me. The clips are secure and since these were easier to release they fit the bill. Easy to install and adjust. Ease of getting in and out of the pedals make this a winner.

          • Familiarity: I've used it several times

SPD's are my favorite cleat / pedal combo. The adjustable tension on the pedals allows you to customize your retention. As stated in previous reviews, these release with less effort than the SH51's.

          Easier Release

I opted for these for their easier release over the performance of the SH56s. I've ridden them for years and they work great.

            Good cleats for easy release

            • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

If you want to be able to unclip from your Shimano pedals with ease, the SH56 multi release cleats are the way to go. They are easier to get out of than the SH51 cleats. Consequently, you may have to increase your release tension so you don't have accidental unclips. Oh and these cleats last forever, they are very durable.

Clip in for MTB or Road

            • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These are stellar for mountainbiking, commuting, etc. Great quality, longevity and design by Shimano, 10/10. There is a reason these are the gold standard for intro clipless pedal users.

            Good Cleats

            • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
            • Fit: True to size

Quality cleats at a fraction of the price you'll pay in a bike shop.

            They Work

            • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
            • Fit: True to size

These keep you locked in when your old set ware out.

            Works as expected.

            • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
            • Fit: True to size
            • Size Bought: n/a

Easy to install, no worries cleat design to fit even my 15 year old SPD pedals. What's not to like?

            Replacing old one

            • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've used these for years and have always enjoyed them. Work great.

Have yet to test these out

I will update as soon as i tried them out on my road bike.
