Shimano SH-RP500 Cycling Shoe - Men's

The intersection of comfort and performance.

Gaining stiffness in a cycling shoe can’t be overlooked. It adds pedaling efficiency and power delivery to every ride, workout, and spin class. The Shimano SH-RP5 Men’s Cycling Shoes pair a carbon plate with a reinforced nylon sole to achieve a stiffness of seven out of 12. You’ll be able to walk casually in comfort from the café or locker room with your ride mates, and then bring them to the pain cave on the bike. Two hook-and-loop straps and one ratcheting buckle keep the shoes securely in place, while the synthetic leather upper ties the look together with stealth fashion.

Great shoe for the price!

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 48

Great in terms of size I ordered a shoe similar to the size of my running shoe and it fit like a glove. The velcro straps were great. The only caveat is that I have high arches so it was tough for me to get any of the ratchet strap to bite.

Remarkable for the price

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 47

I have been an spd rider eversince there was spd. Obvious I like it. But the shoes were always a problem. Every RS model I've purchased over the years were heavy, uncomfortable, and didn't last.

But these are amazingly comfortable, the fit is perfect for a person with slightly wider feet . the ratcheting system is new and lighter, firm er and better. They are very light and stiff given the carbon fiber plate. I've got 700 miles on them and no hot spots, the ventilation system works. I love these shoes. Seriously, even at list price they're worth every penny.

Strange color and decent feel

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small

I thought these would be black, but they were actually somewhere on the grey scale from a (white) 6-9 (black) rating and seemingly a few random splotches of lighter grey and asymmetric between the two shoes. Not a big deal to me personally, but watch out if it is to you!

Runs maybe 1/2 a size small or so. Have not biked much in them at all yet, because its the heart of winter in SLC, UT but I am super excited about these shoes for some riding in the next couple of months as they feel comfy, stiff and I like the closure system design on these.
