The TORBAL (Torsional Balance) midsole, reinforced with glass fiber, might not be quite as stiff as its carbon brethren, however, its warranted on this shoe as the ability to hike a bike is necessary too.

The pedal contact and toe and heel areas feature durable materials designed to withstand whatever you, your bike, or the trail can throw at it. Another nice feature is the expanded 2-hole cleat adjustment range. Shimano has expanded the fore-aft cleat adjustment window by 5-9mm, depending on size, ensuring that you can dial in the cleat position for your riding style and proper fit. The uppers feature synthetic leather which is both lighter and stronger than natural leathers.
