Stand out protection.
When you're waiting at the oversize baggage claim, anxiously scanning the area and hoping beyond hope that your precious cargo arrives unscathed, it's nice to have a case that's as easy to identify as it is protective. The SciCon Limited Edition Aero Comfort Plus 2.0 Travel Bike Case pairs stellar, soft-case security with bright graphics that pays homage to the leaders' jerseys of that big race in France in a style reminiscent of Mondrian's modernism.
Hard cases may be the gold standard for nuke-proof bicycle protection while traveling, but they're a bit of a logistical nightmare with their unwieldy size and weight. Also, finding a cab with enough real estate to tote you and that giant hard case to the hotel when your flight finally arrives in the wee hours of the morning is nothing short of working miracles. Given these constraints, we're okay with sacrificing a tiny bit of protection and gain a whole heap of travelling convenience with cases like the SciCon Aero Comfort Plus. Given the fact that seven World Tour teams also trust SciCon, we're not alone. It helps that this convenience extends to the unpacking and reassembling stage, as the Aero Comfort Plus boasts the distinction of being one of the only cases we've seen that lets you leave your seat post and handlebars untouched.
the bag is made from sponge-padded Nylon 840 with SciCon's ISS (Inside Stabilizer System) alloy anti-shock structure. ISS features a fork block and rear axle mount complete with a rear derailleur protector. All you need to do is remove your wheels and stow them away in the padded wheel pockets, mount your dropouts to the ISS frame, strap the bike down, zip the self-healing zippers around the case, and you're ready to trust your baby to the capricious whims of the TSA. The Aero Comfort Plus has 40mm wheels at the bottom of the bag and a shoulder strap for ease of mobility. The case also includes a rear derailleur shield and TSA-certified locks to ensure your precious cargo rides securely as it travels through the terminal or waits for race day in the back of your team van.
For those of you intending to travel with a bike that has an integrated seat mast, this is one of the few travel cases that we know of that will accommodate a tall seat mast. For example: From our personal experience, the Aero Comfort Case easily accommodates a Wilier Cento Uno SL that measures 79cm from the bottom bracket center to the top of the saddle.

- Q & A
Great bag, derailleur vulnerable
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
As others have commented the big draw to this bag is the convenience of not having to disassemble your bike to pack for airplane transport. My bike traveled back and forth to Switzerland from the US no problem. However, I didn;t trust the derailleur guard and simply removed it and wrapped in bubble wrap and zip-tied to the chainstay. a 5 minute operation that could save a bent hanger or broken derailleur. Also, with through axles more common it would be nice if adapters for the built in frame were included. I had to rig my own adapter arrangement...worked OK but chipped some paint on the fork mount. But these are minor suggestions to improve a great concept.
Great Bag, expensive to transport
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I had excellent support with picking this bag out. It includes a built in frame, tire pump, and TSA lock. The bag is so easy to pull, it practically floats on the ground. Pulling it with extra luggage is very easy. Packed with my bike and some gear, the total weight was only 33lbs, my luggage weighed more! It met my requirements of minimal breakdown of my bike, which really meant I didn't have to take the handlebars off. You can even fit tribars into the bag. They've really thought of everything. I flew my bike on multiple segments with this bag and my bike was in the shape I packed it as, unharmed. I'm giving it a three due to considerations to return or keeping it - but am already thinking about another solution. This bag was very expensive to fly on segmented trips and the airline charged accordingly. The bag is flagged immediately for "oversize" luggage. The airline did have the bag to me around the same time as my standard luggage or faster. It's a vey large bag, so transportation has to be considered too, and where you stand on the rental bus. And now space to store it while not in use, it doesn't pack up small due to the built in frame. CC was great, I received this bag in less than 24 hours of ordering it online - WOW! The bag was admittedly amazing with saved time packing/unpacking the bike. The only tool I needed was the mini tire pump that came with it. If cost to fly or vehicle to transport isn't an issue, it's a perfect bag.
