Solid Medium Duty Boot
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I needed something a little more supportive in the ankle and underfoot than the Salomon Ultra, and these Mavericks were perfect. Used them for a week of day hiking, scrambling and bouldering in the the NH Whites, where the trails are uneven, head-size rocky, and steep. Grip was outstanding. I could step wherever with confidence. I consider myself a somewhat experienced hiker/climber/mountaineer and have had mixed-route ascents and adventures. I would use these in light-duty backpacking in the Rockies, Cascades, Alps...where ever, but not on ice/snow/scree or technical routes. One improvement: I inserted an insole with a little more cushioning.
