Scarpa built the Golden Gate ATR 2 around the idea that a great run rarely stays on one surface, and the construction reflects that from the ground up. The dual-density Bounce midsole stacks generous cushioning underfoot without the dead, heavy feel that plagues a lot of maximalist shoes, keeping your legs fresh and your turnover quick whether you are covering road miles or picking your way through rooted singletrack. The rockered forefoot and segmented sole work together to keep your stride smooth and efficient through every transition, so the surface change underneath you never becomes a disruption above it.

The reinforced mesh upper brings in airflow on hard efforts while microfiber overlays add the targeted structure your foot needs on lateral moves and uneven ground. Scarpa's in-house Presa TRN-07 outsole uses sticky low-profile lugs that grip pavement without the clunky feel of an aggressive trail lug, and the ATR gum compound adds extra bite on loose or hardpacked dirt. At a 4mm drop the Golden Gate ATR 2 encourages a natural midfoot strike that translates well across surfaces, and the neutral support platform lets your foot move the way it wants to on varied terrain.
