Most Comfortable Ever
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I'm on my feet 90% of the day running two businesses and find this shoe the absolute most comfortable shoe I have ever worn. The size was true to what I ordered. If more were available, I would certainly order another pair.

Narrow "wide" width
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
I wear an 8.0 EE. I was very excited to find that Salomon offered a wide width boot, so I ordered the X Ultra 3 Mid Wide GTX boots in an 8.5 Wide. When I received them, I immediately had trouble putting my "duck" feet into them, though they are marked "Wide" directly on the boots. I returned them and ordered a 9 wide. This usually clears up the snug fit if I experience with some boots. That is not the case here. It appeared to have made no increase in width, and my foot is just as wide as the entire boot. Therefore, I have to return them before I can even try them out. I wish Salomon would increase their available widths to include EE.

Hiking boots
- Familiarity:
- I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
Bought these for my son. He wasn't sure he wanted them , but decided to keep them. The next day and after a huge snow storm he called to tell me he absolutely loved them! He works a job that takes him outside quite often and he said his feet were warm and dry all day. In addition, the boots were very comfortable!

Fantastic Boots
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I have had these boots for over one year now. I have a hard time finding hiking boots that are wide enough. These fit my feet perfectly! I got this one week before climbing my first 14er. I didn't have a chance to break them in prior, and they performed amazingly! They are every comfortable. I have since put many more miles on them on a wide array of different types of terrain and they have never disappointed me. They work great hiking on snow and ice with my micro spikes as well. I have zero complaints. They are an all around great boot. I wouldn't hesitate to buy then again when I wear them out.

No grip contragrip
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
Boots are comfortable and fairly water resistant. However the grip is not as advertised. Hiking in the white mountain area over any damp rock in spring or fall conditions is treacherous. Just don know when the boot will let go. Need to revert back to vibrant soles. Boots will be given away or stay in the closet.

Not grippy enough
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I loved the look and fit of the boot, but grip wasn?t good on even slightly wet rocks. Living in Vermont that?s most of the trails. Had to return them, didn?t like worrying about each step. Going to stick with Vibram

Great boots right out of the box!
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I am no hiking boot guru but these boots are pretty awesome! They are light, comfortable and really well made! I agree with another reviewer that the tongue could be less thick but it's really not a factor. The grip on these boots needs to be mentioned, it is awesome! The sole is really well designed and grips on just about any terrain. I have narrow feet and decided to go with the wide and I'm glad I did cause they are perfect. I can wear a thicker sock with no issue. Buy them I'm sure you won't be disappointed!! Oh, I would also like to mention my purchase with Backcountry went flawlessly! They had the best price and free 2 day shipping, I couldn't be happier!

Great boots
Very comfortable boots. Super narrow, I have a narrow foot and I had to get a wide. But other than that they are great boots.

The Only Hiking Boots I Need
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
The first thing that surprised me about these boots is how well they fit. I got 11 wide, and they were out the box perfect. Probably the most comfortable shoes I own. What impressed me further was their grip, which has saved me from biffing it on multiple occasions. I've gone over rock, mud, and water, and these things have kept my feet in great shape through it all. I feel that my feet are invincible when I put these boots on. I'm pretty sure that by getting the mid style, I've prevented my ankle from rolling several times, and they've always kept my feet dry and warm. I can't recommend these boots enough, and I think they'll be the only hiking boots I'll ever own. I don't think anyone, even Salomon, can build better hiking boots.
