Speedcross 4 GTX Trail Running Shoe

Whatever the weather, the Salomon Women's Speedcross 4 GTX Trail Running Shoe tackles muddy inclines and snowy descents alike. The Speedcross features a waterproof breathable Gore-Tex membrane that protects your foot from puddle splashes, rainfall, and all-around wetness. Salomon's SensiFit mesh upper offers a snug, sock-like fit to increase breathable ventilation and decrease chafing. The gusseted tongue provides additional assistance and further prevents sediment from sneaking its way into your sock.

The infamous QuickLace system provides a speedy and secure way to crank down your shoes, and the discrete lace pocket enables you to stash excess cord, which means you don't have to worry about tripping over your own foot mid-run. An Ortholite footbed and dual-density EVA midsole assure shock attenuation and a responsive, energetic feel underfoot. The recently updated, multi-directional Contagrip outsole provides creme-de-la-creme traction and stability on all sorts of wet and wild terrain.

Flying through the trails!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

LOVE this shoe so much! I feel like I'm flying on the trail when Im running in the mountains. The shoe is very comfy and gives great traction. Keeps me dry through the puddles. Haven't had the chance to wear them in dead winter but I won't hesitate to wear them if there are patches of snow on the ground. Great shoe and I'll buy again when these wear out.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These shoes are everything you want them to be. The traction is out of this world and unbeatable on the snowy trails, up or down. What’s really suprising is how sticky they feel on ice, I was blown away. These were recommended to me by some repeat buyers and after buying them and wearing them on my favorite trails, I immediately noticed the difference from my lightweight trail running shoes. After being used to layering a thick wool sock and a gore sock I can now wear a simple wool sock with my new shoes and my feet felt comforted, warm and dry. No one likes cold toes! Rocks, mud, snow, ice and the occasional monkeying around on some rock walls, these shoes can do it all!

Love these shoes!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I spent 10 days trekking the Annapurna Circuit and LOVED them. They kept my feet dry when I had to walk through water and I never had a blister or sore feet.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These are my second pair of Salomon's but my first trail runners and I just absolutely LOVE them! I wore them for a Savage race and I couldn't believe how much of a positive and amazing difference I felt in doing the run in general and completing the obstacles! The tread on these is just outstanding and simply amazing!! I've even done some light hikes with these and I just can't get over how supportive they are to my high arch and foot. These are really great shoes! If you're on the fence, I'd highly recommend giving them a try :) I found they were true to my size personally.

Runs Large

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I wanted to love them but they run super large. My foot was swimming in my typical sneaker size, both too long and too wide. Looked awesome for trail running and love the Gore-Tex. The traction looked really aggressive.

Best Winter Trail Running Shoe

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Let me start by saying you need this shoe if you’re one of those trail runners who isn’t afraid to venture out in the winter months for a good run. It’s THE go to winter trail running shoe for me. The Speedcross 4 GTX shoe is insane as far as performance and comfort goes. I had no issues running through the snow and thick slushy mud up Big Cottonwood Canyon. I had complete traction the whole time, even when I hit the steep parts of the trail. I couldn't feel any rocks I was running over, and had no pressure sores from the quick lace technology. The shoe kept my foot completely dry (THANKS GORE-TEX) and warm as a result. The 7.5 size I got is a perfect true to size fit for my foot. The shoe is also surprisingly light, which is perfect for those long endurance training days.

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

My wife got these to run around our hood, which isn't paved and is snow covered all winter, in addition to running trails. She says they're narrower than the x-mission but still fit well. They took a little getting used to as she said they felt stiff at first but they definitely grip and keep her feet dry as promised.

Comfy and Gortex does the trick!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

My girlfriend started winter trail running this season and was having issues keeping her feet dry. I have worn the Solomon speedcross shoe for years and I love it, so I suggested she try a pair in store to see how they fit. She did and loved them, so we got her the Gortex version for the snow and slush. She reports they have been her most comfortable yet. She previously ran in Altras and Brooks Cascadias and felt these have by far been the most comfortable.

My go-to trail shoes

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is my fourth pair of Salomon Speedcross shoes, and I'm still totally stoked, They're comfortable and supportive, and the tread is perfect for slick trails. True to size, and the colors are fun and bright, I love that this model uses goretex so I can hit the trails when the weather isn't so hot.

Most comfortable trail shoe I own!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 7

These are by far one of the best pairs of shoes in my closet right now. When I initially took them out of the box, I was thrown off by how bulky they seemed, but that's because I am used to a super-duper minimus running shoe. Though they seem like a lot of shoe at first, they are still incredibly light and every time I throw them on, I never want to take them off. They run true to size. I have a narrow foot and they fit super well with adequate room in the toe box so that my toes don't smash up to the front during tricky sections on the trail. I especially love these when the seasons start to change and the trail is extra muddy; never once have my feet gotten wet. Other pros: extremely breathable, easy to clean, great grip on rocks and loose sections on the trail, also great for hiking/snowshoeing, and they last forever! Cons: I have yet to come up with any. Go Salomon! Get these!

I love these shoes! So comfy, great grip and GTX will keep your feet dry! I use them for dog agility, hiking and trail running. I have stepped in deep puddles and slush in these and they keep my feet dry every time.

Great winter running shoe!

I live in Maine and I was looking for a winter running shoe. This shoe is great. It is wind-proof and water-proof. It's been great on slushy winter runs...feet stay completely dry. They are a little stiff at first wearing, but they have gotten less so. I highly recommend.
