SalomonSpeedcross 4 CS Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Get off my lawn.

You're not as much of a trail runner as you are a root wrangling, rock slaying, mud eating speed demon, and the Salomon Men's Speedcross 4 CS Trail Running Shoe gives you the supportive stability needed for tackling trails without a fall. Designed specifically for trail running in wet climates, the Speedcross 4 CS features a ClimaShield membrane that offers weather-resistance from mile one to mile thirteen. The anti-debris mesh upper features synthetic overlays for torsional support, and a DWR treatment provides extra water-resistance.

Salomon's SensiFit design offers a snug, sock-like fit, which means you can bid adieu to hot spots and chafing caused by too-big-shoes. Additionally, the QuickLace system provides a speedy and secure alternative to the traditional lacing system, and the lace-specific pocket makes sure you don't trip over a drawcord. An Ortholite footbed and dual-density EVA midsole ensures shock attenuation and a responsive, energetic feel underfoot that assures miles of support and comfort. Not to mention, the recently updated Contagrip outsole provides serious traction and stability on mud, scree, and slush.

Winter warrior

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 10

These shoes are amazing for trail running year round, but especially for winter runs. You don't need yaktrax or spikes of any kind if the Salomon speedcross 4 is under your foot. The Clima-shield (CS) is a great addition over your toes; if you are going to be running in the snow or a wet climate the CS protects your toes from getting soaked. I also like the CS vs the GTX because your foot can still breathe a decent amount. Get out and sweat!

Comfy Beast

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

The Speedcross is a rock solid shoe. It has great aesthetics, a gnarly tread pattern, and the sole is super comfy. The shoe is light on your foot and the speed-lacing makes an easy and tight lace up.

I picked up a pair for mellow day hikes, wearing around town, and also for any potential adventure where wet, muddy conditions may persist.

I have been running Salomon since before it was cool ;) The Speedcross line up is super solid, grippy, lightweight, and the lacing system is amazing. Once you use it, you will forget how to tie shoelaces, and wonder why you ever did that! From short evening canyon runs to 1/2 trail marathons, to being a mule for friends on the Wasatch 100; these shoes handle it all. I run the Spikecross for winter trail running, the CS version for fall and spring, and normal version for summer.

Solid Shoe

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I bought these for my father dad as an early father's day gift and he was pumped. The color is great and he said the fit is super comfortable. He did mention that they needed to be tightened more than his other shoes, but his foot does seem to be more narrow than normal.

If you hit the trails HARD...this is the shoe for you. Climasheild keeps the toes warm and dry. These knobby monsters grip the rock, snow, and mud like super glue! This will be my 5th or so pair. I have tried a lot of different brands through the years and these certainly take the cake. I love these beasts!
