Technical, light, and breathable.

The Salewa Women's Wildfire Vent Approach Shoe lights a fire underfoot when you're hiking techy trails to faraway climbs. Its Exa Shell Over Injected 3D Cage upper wraps breathable yet durable ballistic mesh around your foot for a precise fit, and microfiber covers the forefoot while the rubber rand protects you from rocks. Salewa's innovative 3F System Evo uses aluminum stays to enhance flexibility and mobility without hindering the much-needed support that awful approaches demand. This shoe also features climbing-style laces for a secure fit from toe to heel, a conforming Multi-Fit Footbed for customized cush, and Vibram's Tech Approach sole that lives up to its name.

Perfect rock approach shoes

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These are perfect lightweight approach shoes, especially for those of us with narrow feet, The lacing goes down nearer the toe than other shoes so adjustments are easier. The sole and rubber are great too. I can scramble with confidence and they are light enough that they are not a burden to carry up long routes with a walk down descent.

Love/hate relationship

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

My only complaint is that the tongue does not stay in place - it always is off to the side and gets scrunched down. Otherwise I love the way they fit and have a good grip.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review, Julie! Awesome feedback with the tongue as well - perhaps a different model with a shorter tongue might work better for you as I assume the reason why the tongue gets scrunched up is due to it bending with your ankle... Let me know if I can help find a pair that you have nothing but positives to say about!

Did not work for me. Toes rubbed raw

  • Fit: True to size

I tried these on and thought they were great. I have barrow feet and they fit much better than most. I took them home and wore them around the house and all most immediately I noticed the mesh creased and started rubbing my little toes. After a short time I realized these were a no go and traded them for wildfire pro which doesn't have the same issue

Are these UK sizes or US sizes?

Hey Heather - The sizes are US. Feel free to contact me directly with any additional questions.

  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: 6

These shoes are great! I use them in desert, in the mountains, really anywhere and everywhere I want/need a good grip where waterproofing isn't a concern. They are a durable shoe and genuinely have the best grip over any of my other hikers. They do run slightly large, but not too bad. I'd order 0.5 size down if you are wanting them to fit as is. I purchased a footbed because I felt like they were lacking the comfort I was looking for, which helped offset them running a little too big for me.
