If you spend your time on the west coast, mobbing through day-old powder, ripping steep lines, and charging the occasional groomer, you'll fall head over heels with the Rossignol Temptation 100 Women's Ski. It's an all-mountain crusher, to be sure, but at 100mm underfoot, it's bigger than a lot of east-coast powder skis, so it won't feel out of its depth if the flakes start to pile up.
It might not be the most versatile ski in Rossignol's all-mountain lineup (that honor probably goes to the Temptation 88), but the Temptation 100 is easily the most comfortable in deep, uneven snow and at high speed. It sports
the same Auto Turn Rocker as all of Rossi's all-mountain rippers, with
camber underfoot for edge grip and a gently rockered tip and tail to
make short work of boot-deep powder, tight trees, and rough storm
leftovers. The sidecut's been extended, too, to provide more edge
contact when you lay the ski over without sacrificing the ability to
pivot quickly when you keep it flat, so you can rip groomers one lap and
slice your way through glades the next.
Although she has a titanal laminate to help her open up the throttle and charge, the Temptation is a surprisingly nimble ski, thanks in large part to the
snappy, lively poplar core that's stiff
enough to be driven hard and light enough that it won't ever feel like
it's in charge. It uses Rossignol's trademark Air Tip construction to
keep weight down and eliminate the tip chatter that can be a problem for
rockered skis, and is built with a hybrid Minicap sandwich
construction, which combines cap and sandwich designs for a top-shelf
combo of edge hold and lightness. If you split your time between off-piste and on, and can't wait for the deeper days, the Temptation 100 is likely to take the top spot in your quiver.
