Wherever your trail riding takes you, the RockShox Pike RCT3 Dual Position Air 160 Boost 27.5in Fork conquers everything from rowdy, rock-strewn descents to long uphill slogs with its Dual Position air spring. This adjustable air spring gives you the ability to lower its travel from 160 to 130-millimeters with the quick flick of a dial housed atop the left side of the fork. Suddenly, technical climbs just became a whole lot easier for your long-travel sled by lowering its front end to a more uphill-friendly 130-millimeters of travel. By lowering its travel, you'll reduce unwanted front-end motion for a bike that's easier to climb with, especially seeing the tendency of slack enduro rigs to wander the front end on steep climbs. Best of all, when it's time to rip the descent, flick the dial to gain all 160-millimeters of its rock-gobbling travel.
For 2018, the Pike RCT3 Dual Position gets an overhaul with the addition of RockShox's new Charger 2 damper unit. This damper retains the 3-position adjustability of the older model, but with greater range of low-speed compression tuning in the Open mode. The Pedal setting is revised to provide a better feel for undulating hills and smooth climbs where a bit of added efficiency is welcome. Finally, the Firm setting remains virtually the same, except it's compatible with RockShox OneLoc remotes for locking out the front and rear ends simultaneously in racing scenarios and long climbs up fire roads.
The 2018 Pike RCT3 Dual Position gets a revised chassis that's cut-out along the lowers to shave a bit of weight without compromising the Pike's legendary stiffness and precise handling, as it retains 35-millimeter stanchions. It's available in Boost spacing only to accommodate the stiffer wheels and larger rubber of modern mountain bikes. Speaking of tires, you'll find all 2018 Pike forks clear up to 2.8-inch tires, allowing you to ride both high volume and plus-sized tires for greater traction and bump compliance on the trail.
