Race FaceNext SL Seatpost

Next is the new now.

If you were ever wary of decking your mountain bike out with a carbon seatpost, fret no more. The Race Face Next SL Seatpost has been tried and tested to ensure it belongs on the trails.

The Next SL is engineered from a 3K-carbon weave that provides high strength at a low weight. To further save weight, Race Face decided against its standard single-adjustment head clamp and used a new Hunter design that features a two-bolt system that allows quick, on-the-go adjustments. The post is compatible with 7 or 9mm rails and has 35mm of horizontal support.

Nice carbon post...although?

I have an extremely nice titanium hardtail MTB. Looking to match my carbon RF Next Bars and RF Stem I researched this specific post. I saw in the description it came with a rubber grommet to help seal up the frame. I liked that as well as the Carbon Next post to match my other components. I had been leaning towards a Thomson seatpost for the obvious reasons. I ordered the RC Next post and it got here quickly. The box appeared to have opened before and sure enough it had. The post I received appeared to have been installed on another bike and did not come with a rubber grommet. I called and CC was happy to immediately ship me out a new post before returning the original...cool right! I received he the RF Next post...this post had never been installed, but no rubber grommet. I called CC and they said they would contact RF themselves and inquire. I was later contacted and told RF would not be providing me a rubber grommet...pretty much end of story. At this point I don’t even know if one is needed or not? CC offers to allow me to send the second RC post back. By now its on my bike and I do not have another post to install if I were to just order the Thomson as originally planned. I did return the first post, kept the second and have ridden with it. Nice post, matches my bars with is cool. Seems well built etc etc......but no grommet and if one is mentioned in the description I would think it’s needed. I like the post it just doesn’t make me feel confident because I did not get what was described and what I feel that I paid for...

Light weight, great clamp, solid post

weight as advertised, carbon post seems to dampen well

Hey Terry......did your RF Next seatpost come with a rubber grommet? Is it still working out ok?

    Proper post...

Well made, good fit, easy adjustment, light, absorbs vibration, and will clamp down on most seat rails for a no-slip fit. I'm using this post on my Niner hardtail, and it works very well.

    Lightweight. Strong. Does it's job.

Strong. Seat never slips as long as you have it tightened down to the appropriate specifications. And that all you really need in a seatpost. Being super light weight is always a nice bonus as well though.

    Simple, Well Executed Design

It's a testament to how bad some seatposts designs are that when you get a good one again it's actually worth noting. The clamp on this post is a simple two-bolt design that is easily accessible with any standard allen key. The clamps also hold all manner of rails...from alloy to wider wrapped-carbon style ones with no issues. It's a part you tend to forget about until you need to switch or adjust a saddle, but when you do it's nice to have one as well executed as this.

Seatposts should be "set and forget" and that's exactly what the RF Next post does. It handles standard and the tall carbon rails without any problems, and has a nice give to it even with the 30.9mm size. I love two bolt posts...they make tiny adjustments so easy.
