Awkward Pants Shape

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: 6

I had such high hopes! Out of the package, these pants were exactly what I was looking for-thick material, nice color and they looked cool. I listened to the previous reviews and ordered a size up (normally a 4, I got a 6). They fit perfectly on my legs and hips, but the waist was absurdly too large! Like, several inches too large. Most pants have a large waist on me (I have a curvy butt and small waist) so I'm used to needing a belt, but these were wildly disproportional. And due to the thick fabric, I couldn't belt them smaller because the fabric bunched up and was uncomfortable. Something is off about the sizing here, based on my experience and the other reviews.

Cute pants

They are super cute. Don’t have a lot of stretch.

    Cute but....

I wish so badly these pants were properly proportioned. Here's the scoop:
    +nice thick material!
    +deep pockets
    +super cute plus practical!

-very slim through thighs without ANY stretch, but just shy of being true to size
-if you have a butt, prepare for compression
-as I already mentioned, there is ZERO stretch with these pants.

Prana ALMOST had these right... but I feel like they were men's pants sold as women's. Hopefully Prana can try a rev2.0....

    Louisa skinny leg

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: 12

I like the style and fabric these pants are made of. They really do not stretch out as others have said. The colors are great!

    Weird Cut

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: 6

I want to love these pants, but the cut is very weird. The waist is huge as it was designed to ride on the hips, but the crotch is way long.

    Vanity sizing strikes again

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: 2

I wear a size 0 or 2 (which fits loosely) in Prana. But I can't get these pants over my thighs! Seriously. And I haven't gained weight; I still fit just fine in my old Prana gear. I'm not even sure if a 4 will be big enough. The quality seems good so I'll give it another try.
This same thing happened with Kuhl, in which I used to wear a 2, but now the waist size for their pants and shorts is an inch and a half smaller this year. Manufacturers, please stop using vanity sizing. Give women sizing like men - natural waist + inseam - and to make it more accurate add a hip measurement. So, instead of a 2 or 4, make it a 27-36-32 or whatever. It would make every woman's life easier and also make companies more profitable because they wouldn't have so many returns.

    Sizing

Awesome flattering pants! However, I ordered these in pottery in size 8 and the same for my second pair in charcoal. Second pair was a tad too tight. Ordered a 10-will see which one gets return. Not sure what the issue is as i have about 20 pairs of Prana pants now in three styles amd have never had a sizing issue. Hoping not to have to pay return shipping...

    Awesome!

These pants are the bomb dot com! I am 5’9” and weigh 185, I bought a size 12 and they are probably the most comfortable pants I have ever purchased. I am incredibly active outside, climbing, hiking, etc. I wore them while rock climbing the other day and they were the best! 10/10 would recommend, definitely my new favorite pair of pants!

      Flattering pants

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 12

I'm a curvy girl, 5"5" and 160 pounds and got my usual size 12. They fit perfectly and snugly. These are heavier weight pants, good for most of the year in Southern California but probably not July through September. I'd concur that movement might be restricted too much for climbing. For casual wear, they are great, soft, and very attractive. I love the details. Coffee bean was the color I got, and I'm tempted to pick up another pair. I find a belt necessary with these because they don't have a lot of stretch. Certainly they'd work for short hikes and brisk walks. They are a little long for me, so I cuff them.

      Good buy

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 6

I bought these on a whim, they were on sale and after reading the size chart I sized down (usually the Prana pants sag at the back waist on me) Yes these are pretty stiff pants, and the legs are a tad skinny but they are really nice to wear. Thicker material gives me some more warmth. Obviously not meant for climbing, these are more smart casual for me. The pockets are awesome, I appreciate the thigh pockets.

      Agree with Elizabeth S below...

I agree with the below comment, they are thick, stiff, and tight, even when I tried to size up. Not stretchy or comfortable. Maybe they would work better for a very straight and slender figure, but unfortunately did not work for me. I didn't find them comfortable for standing or sitting at home let alone all day around town, or the rock wall alluded to in the description.

      Love Prana $$$$$!

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
      • Fit: True to size

Love love love Prana pants-literally own like 12 prs! I think $98 for these is over the top though for me.

Not what I expect from Prana

I think of Prana as comfortable and flattering. These were stiff, thick, and tight. A larger size would have still been very stiff - I would call them the opposite of the Prana Halle pants (which are awesome). Sending them back.

          Need stretch! Stretch needed!

          • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
          • Fit: Runs large
          • Size Bought: 4

These pants look darling and the first 5 mins they are on is great, but if you move or walk at all the fabric is so thick it doesn't move with you. Within 1/2 a day of wearing the pants they get stretched out so bad it feels like you're wearing bad panty hose that are hanging btwn your knees.
They are also sized small. I normally wear a 4/6 and I could wear a 2 in these.

I wanted to love these pants

          • Fit: Runs large
          • Size Bought: 2

This is the second pair of Louisa skinnies I bought, after having to size down from a 4 to a 2. (I naturally wear a 4/6). The fabric is a smooth and study cotton and I really liked the ample pockets. The color, Tortoise, is darker and less yellow than in the photo- more of a caramel. However, the sizing is all wonky. The inseam is 32" which for most women is too long (I do like to cuff my pants though). I have a booty with a small waist, which means that there was a waistband gap in these pants. They are fitted as midrise, which I like, but on me these pants just looked frumpy. Prana seems to make pants that tailor to women with a boyish figure, not so much for ladies with curves. That's just my experience. I really really wanted to keep these, but even with the discounted price, they just weren't worth it.

          Awesome/Runs Large

            Love these
            5'7" 112 lbs 0 is perfect

Soft and comfy, not for climbing

            • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
            • Fit: Runs large
            • Size Bought: 4

I am currently sitting in these pants on the couch and loving life. Just as the other reviewer mentioned the fabric is fairly thick with a slight amount of stretch to it. The fabric also very soft. I usually wear a size 4 in Prana pants, and these are no different. They have just a slight amount of room to move or layer in. Not enough room to size down.

The deep side pockets are great on these pants. The down side is that the seam above the knee restricts movement a bit. I don't think that there is enough stretch in these pants to climb in, a high step would be a serious strain. They may soften up a bit after a few washes.

So far I love them. They feel super durable and are thick which is nice for the cooler temps. These can easily transfer between walking in the woods to biking around town or being dressed up for work. The length is also pretty good for me. They hit just above the ankle which is normal for my height. Pairs well with boots and looked cute rolled up with sandals.

            Caryn,

            Keep up the awesome reviews!

            Cheers.

            Comfy, flattering, and not skintight!

These pants are fantastic. The fabric is thicker and has a bit of stretch, but they don't feel bulky or stiff.

The prana size chart uses "low hip" measurement rather than a waist measurement, so I wasn't sure what size to buy. I have a 27" waist ordered the size 2, and they are slightly big but fit pretty well.

Another great thing is that the pockets are big enough to fit my phone, which is not typical for women's pants at all.
