loving Prana!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Very comfortable. I work in a very hot mill, these are a game changer. Need more. I use these or Zion now. These breath much better than Kuhl Renegade.

Comfort and Flex

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large

These are among the most comfortable pants I've ever owned. Light, but I'd feel comfortable climbing/hiking in them. The size seemed to have run a little large.

Perfect pants.

Really have enjoyed these pants so much that I’ve purchased multiple pairs in several colors.. They are perfect for a light breathable pant that you can wear around the camp site or into town, they pack easy and have become my go to pants for international travel. Plenty of leg room and comfortable waist for those 8-18hr flights. Wear well and clean easily is a must when you don’t want to worry about finding a washing machine 8 time zones away from home. Strongly recommend

...boyfriend wears these pants I would be RICH!

He absolutely lives in these pants. I can't remember the last time he was not in them. By far the best purchase I have made for him and several other family members.
The sizing is great on the Brion's. If you're feeling hot (like my boyfriend always is) cuff them to your ankle, and when you're in the snow roll them back down. Seriously true to size and true to color! He is wearing the Mud in size 30x30.

They have gone through so much within the last two years from camping, climbing, hiking, and traveling. Seriously, if this was the last pants you were to ever purchase, these would be the one.

    Teach Your Children Well

This is my son's first pair of hiking pants. He's never cared about what he wore hiking, previously. But finally, he trusts dad and is now living full-time in the Brion pants. How could you not?! They are everything you want in function and fashion.

The fit is true for my family. I would not call this a slim cut, like the previous review mentioned. They are definitely just normal to me. So, don't size up. Just get your normal size pant and will work for most people.

    Between Sizes

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: 34X34

First of all these pants are awesome but as you can see in most of the reviews the sizing can be a little tricky. I am a tall lean guy and I am constantly in between a 32-34 size pants. Since these are claimed as a slim cut I went with a 34 waist. Unfortunately though they are not a true slim cut and fit more like a regular or even a boot cut pair of pants. That being said I still really love the pants. With a belt they fit well and do not feel like they are sliding off my skinny body. The Scotch Guard finish really does help to keep stains and water off making them any travelers best friend. They are also super stretchy and comfy for a pair of pants that looks as clean and modern as these do. The material is also thick enough that they are more abrasion resistant than other outdoor pants but not so thick that they will not breath. I would definitely recommend these pants for anyone who is looking for a casual trails to cocktails pair of pants that fits in just as well in the bar as they do in the woods. Just be aware that you will most likely need a slightly smaller size compared to what you are used to or you may need to wear a belt.

    Choice above all other pants

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 36x34

This is quickly becoming my default pant of choice. They are light and have great stretch, which makes them comfortable in a variety of situations. They are excellent on the trail or for everyday comfort. There is a slight flare at the base, so hiking with boots is made simple. Unlike the Stretch Zion Pant, these have riveted pockets for more durability. I got the Coffee Bean color and am very happy with the look.

    Not My Type

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Based off of the success I've had with the Brion shorts, I thought the pants would be another solid choice. Turns out I was wrong.

This is not to say there was any issue of quality or fuction, but rather how these pants fit my lean body type. I'd categorize the fit as being more "straight slim" than a true slim fit. As other reviewers have noted, the legs tend to flare quite a bit. I really wanted to like these pants, but I prefer a much slimmer profile than what they had to offer. Take a look at the Zogger Pant if you want a slim fit throughout.

    Super Awesome Bell-Bottoms

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 34x32

These pants are amazing, I love the comfort and stretch. They look really nice and clean and they fit well until you get below the knee. At that point they just seem to have forgotten to taper the cut to match the “slim fit” profile so they end up looking like goofy bell-bottoms which makes them almost unwearable outside of recreational use, which in my mind defeats the entire point of these pants. I was looking for something that would look as appropriate at work or the bar as it does at the crag. If they fixed this issue I’d have 10 pairs of these but the current cut has me a little disappointed in this product.

Love the pants, but waist size off

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: 33x30

I’m a perfect 33 waist in the Prana stretch zion shorts and their jeans, but these were over a full inch bigger in the waist. Wanted to keep them, but had to return them. Would’ve exchanged them, but I’m afraid the thighs would then be too tight. Bummed, because the pants seemed like they’d be amazing for casual wear, hiking and travel.

    Classic Stretch Zion feel

Another great style from Prana made with their classic Stretch Zion Fabric. These pants are great for everything. In my experience, they fit a little slimmer than the Stretch Zion's but are still true to Prana's sizing.

    Great Do-It-All Pants

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 32x32

I'm a huge fan of these pants, I've got a few pairs of them. They come in great colors, have a great fit, and have just the right amount of stretch. If you have skiier/skater thighs, they can hug your leg up top, but the stretch fabric makes any movement easy, it's never been an issue for me, This is the type of pants that you can wear to the office all day, out to the crag, commuting around town, just about anything. Oh, and my favorite part? These pants do not wrinkle... score! I will jam these in my duffel for days and within a few minutes of putting them back on, like magic, all wrinkles are gone!

These fit true to size in my experience, slightly large if anything. My ideal pant size is a 33x31,. In these I've settled in on 32x32. Enough stretch to not feel to tight around the waist. They are a little long, but I tried the 30 length at one point and prefer the length (you can always roll the up, right?) These get great reviews for a reason. One of the best pants ever made.

    Awesome!

By far my favorite pair of pants, wear them everywhere!

I have bought additional pairs of these prana pants and my son wanted a pair after trying mine on! light weight great for travel. versatile - I wear them out on the town and on the trail. slim and trim but very comfortable - the slight stretch seems to do it .. yeah color me a fan.

    Stretchy

Great fit, a little tight on these runners thighs I got but doesn't lose mobility or flexibility.

      Great Pants!

I purchased a pair of these pants for a friend for Christmas. He has had nothing but great things to say about them. According to him, they are the most comfortable pants out there. I may end up buying a pair for myself.

      Awesome, comfortable pants

I bought these for a friend. They own two pairs and want more. Great everyday pants for any activity from the office, to traveling, to the climbing wall.

Improvement over the stretch Zions but..

If you want a more casual and urban look than the Zion, then look no further.
I go on rides and climb with these babies. My only complaint is that even though they are significantly less baggy than the Zions....they still kind of flap/flood at the ankles....but they're more do-able than the Zions! Perhaps they left some room for a more comfortable roll-up? I also wish that they've also bring over the cinching belt from the Zion.

These are great for Texas weather if that tells you anything about breathability in warmer climates.

I use these also on camping trips. The difference between Brion and the Zions is that I bring out the Brion when I'm around town, too.

      Best synthetic pants I've owned

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 30" x 32"

Prana does a fantastic job at balancing comfort and functionality of their products. I love the elasticity of the nylon/spandex material blend. I'm planning to order another pair soon (got the beige).

Less technical version of the Zion

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size

So it goes without saying that the Zion is a) one of the most popular items on this site and b) that it is truly the best pant for climbing, camping, hiking, and anything outdoors (I love them for skating as well). However, my girlfriend has been claiming that my beloved Zions are "dad pants" and should not be worn in public. While I might disagree with her impressions of the Zion, the Brion is the perfect compromise between your typical chino and a technical climbing/hiking pant.
