Pearl Izumi Canyon Shorts - Women's

Love the ride but not the Lycra.

If you're into cycling but aren't necessarily feeling the painted-on look of Lycra tights, then Pearl Izumi's women's Canyon Shorts may be the bottoms you're looking for. Whether you're hitting XC trails or spinning out the miles on asphalt, the semi-fitted body and light, stretchy material won't restrict you or sweat you out. The inclusion of a chamois also means you get the benefits of padding without the drawbacks of the diaper bulge of traditional cycling shorts.

So comfortable

  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: small

These are slim fitting shorts, cut narrow at the thighs. They just about fit me at the thighs, but luckily it has adjustable waist fittings. Material is oh-so-comfortable. Overall, a very flattering cut.

Only 1 pocket. Great for short riders.

These are my favorite mtb shorts. I've tried several different ones, but since I'm short they all go way over my knees. These are about an inch above the knee standing and mid-thigh. I bought a large because the medium was just a wee tight when sitting down. These only have the one zipper pocket in the picture and not two as described. If these came in cuter colors I would totally have them all, but I only have the black.

Thanks for the review Rachael! Super helpful to get this feedback out to the community.

Awesome fit & comfort

I have two pairs of these shorts and I have to say they are my favorite go-to shorts for mountain biking. The length is comfortable and the fit is perfect. They are also flattering for walking around town after a ride. I think I'll go buy another pair!

My favorite shorts!

I use them mountain biking as well as road riding. Comfortable fit, love the adjustable waist.

Fun

The colorways and build quality on these are great, definitely recommend.

    Perfect for short bike commutes

I wear these shorts to ride my fatbike a scant 3.5 miles each way to work. (My saddle is comfy enough to not need padded shorts, and if I was riding my road bike a longer distance, I'd wear bibs.)

I really love these shorts, especially the fit: I'm a size 12 in pants and took a Large, and they are fitted but not tight, and just the right length to not ride up. (On my first rides, I wore hiking shorts with a shorter inseam, which rode up and chafed: ouch.) If you are between sizes and prefer a more relaxed fit, definitely size up. The back inner waistband also has a velcro pull-tab that can be tightened if needed. I also like that these shorts are cut higher in back, as they should be: just say no to crack! :) Of note, the included yet detachable padded liner was definitely too snug on me, but I don't wear it anyway, soooo no biggie.

The stretchy material on the shorts is super-comfy and dries really fast, whether from sweat or a bit of rain. Not wanting to do laundry every day, I wash my shorts in the sink with a tiny bit of detergent a few times a week and hang them to dry: presto, clean shorts for another day of pedaling.

I am very pleased with these shorts and will likely order another pair in a different color: I originally purchased Deep Indigo, which is a purple-blue with black and gray accents. I also want to try them out for water activities like kayaking as I think they'll be great for that too.

Nice, but Fit/Construction A Little Off

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size

I'll start by saying these were a gift for my fiance. She really like the color scheme (me too) and like that they were not a really lengthy pair of women's mtb shorts.
At first glance, the light softshell material is very nice and they look even better in real life than they do on our site.
After she tried them on, the fit was a little weird. Not in overall size...they were a small and that definitely seems like the proper size...but the fact that there was some weird pulling in the front that causes some wrinkle pulls in the fabric. It's not a huge deal, just a little funky. Seems to be there both while standing and sitting.

    Only 1 pocket

Love these shorts, they are extremely comfortable and fit well. However the tag and the description say they have 2 pockets but they only have 1!

Great bike shorts! Fit just right

I was nervous because I read a review that these run small, but both liner and shorts fit great! I definitely couldn't go any smaller, though. I'm very happy with the quality of them both, as well.

Shorts fit great, liner too small

Hallelujah! Women's cycling shorts that don't have a frickin' flower on them!

I bought these in black in Sm and Med. I'm typically a size 27 (or 4), but for some reason women's bike clothing tends to run small. Not these shorts. The small is right on the money. The medium did fit, but was a little looser than I preferred so they went back.

The liner is another story. Both liners in the medium and small were too small for me and produce a generous muffin top :) Not a big problem for me, I typically wear bib shorts anyways.

One last note: I thought the black had a white highlight on it. Wrong - it's light gray. Totally personal preference, but I love the look of the gray on black. I'm stoked on these shorts!
