Hold on tight.

The Men's Patagonia Venga Rock Pant is in a pretty big hurry to get you on the wall. If the stretchy lightweight cotton and gusseted crotch don't give it away that these pants want to climb, then the articulated knees and careful details are sure to clue you in. The organic cotton weave is not only soft and stretchy for natural movement, but is also durable enough to hold its own against knee-bars, hip scums, and downclimbs. Small details like low-profile belt loops and a convenient thigh pocket make them a pleasure to wear under you harness, and the unique adjustable button closure ensures a perfect fit every time.

  • Technical pants for hitting the crag in dry, crisp conditions
  • Cotton weave is durable enough for all summer rock contact
  • Darted knees and gusseted crotch provide performance mobility
  • Right thigh pocket located for harness-equipped access
  • Rear pockets double as seat reinforcement for increased durability
  • Bar tack stitching on pockets ideal spot for coins and tool brush
  • Low-profile belt loops offer a comfortable feel beneath your harness
  • Adjustable closure system provides a one-handed perfect fit

Get the Quandary pants instead

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: 30

Ordered a pair of these at the same time as the Quandarys in January 2017. I pretty much exclusively wear my Quandarys when climbing now. These suck. They fit poorly and are baggy even if you buy the same size.

The belt area is also looser where I have to wear a belt when climbing in these.

I love Patagonia, but this is probably my one Pata product that I cannot recommend.

Mountain style/fair climbing

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: 32

1st bought a 31 (my Mnt Khaki sz) had to return for a 32. High crotch and flat butt are not ideal; thighs and taper are correct. Not enough stretch through the hips especially if it gets warm or humid to climb in. They do fit well under a harness and seem to climb a little better with a harness on. Pockets are nice and I like the thigh pocket better than Prana Zions. The material has a nice finish but not enough stretch. Perfect evening on the town pants up to 72 degrees; I don't know if climbing pants was Patagonia's goal with these. I think if Patagonia used MK's cotton stretch material they would have had the perfect pants. I'm told last years version was just that. My wife is an elementary teacher and has 2 pair of Vengas (last year) she raves about the mobility and fit. I 'll continue to support Patagonia because they support climbers. I hope they correct the deficiencies of the Vengas. I want the perfect pair.

2nd pair

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 32

My boyfriend liked his first pair so much, I had to buy a second pair for him. Pretty sure he wears them every single day.

Thicker than expected

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small

The pants are true to size being a 30 waist however they feel a little too thick ancient seem to stretch at all

Tough Fabric

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

It is true, these are not as stretchy as last years model. The fabric is a bit heavier which I think is a good thing as the pants will be more durable. The inseam is a little longer, but the fit overall is good.

Horrible fit

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: 32"

I'm in the same boat as the other reviewer. I've owned a number of these pants over the past few years and these ones fit horrible. Every other pair fits amazing, but these guys grab you on the butt and feel way too tight. I'd send it back, but I'm too late on the 30 day return window- guess I should have tried them on sooner.

Not like last years

  • Fit: True to size

These are horrible for climbing. I have two other pairs of this kind of pant from last year. The old model was 98% organic cotten 2% elastane and are wonderful. This new version is 78% organic cotten 24% polyester 3% elastane. The cut is the same but the new version isn't anywhere near as stretchy as the old one. I will be returning these tomorrow.
