Why We Like The Patagonia Torrentshell 3L Jacket

Built with Patagonia's highest level of waterproofing, the Torrentshell 3L Jacket gives us bomber protection against the mountain's torrential downpours. As we trek to higher ground, we open the underarm vents to keep our microclimate calm, while the hood's laminated visor diverts the sky's steady stream away from our eyes.

Mr.

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it

I’m 5’8 185 lbs and bought large, had to return because to tight. It fit with lightweight shirt but no room to move around … nice jacket though

Good for the price

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

This is the best rain jacket out there for the price. It will last damn near forever, is well designed, and sports quality waterproofing. I?ve used mine on everything from long backpacking trips to biking runs when the weather turned sour and it has not let me down. With that being said, there are better options out there if your willing to pay a premium. Brands like ArcTyrex and Patagonia themselves offer better hard shell/rain jackets for specific uses. However, they are much more expensive and are less versatile. Bottom line: if you?re looking for a versatile, long lasting rain jacket at a good value than you won?t beat this. With that being said, there are better options out there for specific uses you might want to consider. (Beta LT for more extreme weather, storm 10 for lightweight weather protection, Beta AR or Alpha SV for the most extreme weather Mother Nature can throw at you, and the Zeta SL for a backpacking specific ?performance? rain jacket).

great rain jacket

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

got this as a replacement for the previous version of it. excellent quality, great price point. the sizing was a point of confusion for me. i generally wear size lg slim fit whenever possible and am a true large. the large for this jacket was way too big for me. a medium fit perfectly and would still allow for laying.

As Good as Advertised

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

The jacket absolutely sheds rain and the attached hood is the best fitting one I have ever had. I have done a lot of rainy day dog walking in this and stayed dry and comfortable. It is very light-weight (this by itself is not cold weather gear) and drys quickly. It is a great product and well worth the purchase price.

Bombproof, but....

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I have been caught in a snowstorm coming down a mountain and the Patagonia Torrentshell Jacket seemed bomb proof. Wind proof, waterproof and the hood design protected my face and head. It is an essential part of my gear if any bad weather is expected. I think it does a lot and doesn't weigh much. But..... you do need to manage your body heat and perspiration and even then I find it gets wet inside. I believe it is condensation since the fabric is cool or cold and sweat evaporating off your skin is warm Comfortable, well designed, looks good. Maybe I just sweat too much, but climbing up hill with a pack it gets close to dripping wet inside. Men's Large fits nicely over an insulation layer when necessary.

Solid jacket great price and performance

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I bought this for my son for a 3 day trip to the ADKs. We had a mix of on/off rain, sleet and snow depending on elevation. He stayed dry and warm and loved the industrial green color. Can't give it 5 stars until it passes the test of time.

Love it

Bought this for my son in law, he said it held up great in Vancouver (aka Raincouver) weather. Breathable, lightweight, and breathable.

Great Functional Jacket

Familiarity:

I got this jacket and love everything about it. It keeps you dry, the closure around the hood works great in the rain and I love the Mango.
