Who wears short shorts? Not you, so much. Offering a slightly longer cut than their 5-inch companions, the Patagonia Stride Pro 7in Shorts provide added coverage without sacrificing their airy feel and wicking performance as you run. The body of the short is made with a lightweight recycled polyester ripstop fabric that wicks moisture and offers breathable comfort on your warm-weather runs, even giving you an added dose of cooling airflow with a slight split at the leg ends. You'll have all the storage you need on longer, high-mileage runs with four open waistline pockets that stash energy gels and packable weather shells easily thanks to their stretchy construction. There's also a zippered security pocket in the back that keeps keys and IDs from falling out in the middle of a ten mile out-and-back on the trail. Plus, these shorts have a comfortable, moisture-wicking liner that gives you constant support and won't gather odor after even the most grueling runs and workouts.

Wanted to love them...
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I own a few pairs of Patagonia's nine trail shorts for running and working out and love them. Bought a set of these hoping for some lighter, more ventilated shorts for hotter runs. They are lighter and more ventilated but that's about the only positive thing I can say about them. The boxer brief liner is a very odd fit, tight everywhere except for where you need support down there and the result is chafing on legs and inadequate support for your "package" when running. They are also super smelly after even a light workout, these are the only shorts I own (from multiple manufacturers) that this happens to. Finally the quality of construction seems lacking, mine was popping seams after just 2.5 months. I plan to return them via Patagonia's ironclad return process and will stick to my trust nine trails shorts going forward.

Slightly Different
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I have the Teal & Black color of these same shorts. I saw the dark blue available and insrtantly jumped on it. However, there does seem to be some slight differences between the older 2 shorts and this one viz. the liner and some of the external patches. Other than that, great short!

great

just the right number of pockets. i like the liner a lot too. the 5" one is too short for me to feel comfortable in; these are the right size.

I have several versions of these

And the newest version with the brief liner is the best imho. The ones I have with the boxer brief become loose the longer you wear them during a race while the brief keeps everything in control. I have these in both the 5 and 7" and they are my favorites of all the different Patagonia running shorts I own.
