Patagonia Refugative Jacket - Women's

Shelter for the high-country escape artist.

Make a break for the backcountry in the Patagonia Women's Refugative Jacket. Fully waterproof, windproof, and breathable, this technical shell is made from an impenetrable three-layer Gore-Tex fabric that keeps sloppy precipitation and piercing winds at bay while letting sweaty moisture escape to ensure you stay nice and dry in the mountains all day. But this jacket isn't made from your everyday three-layer Gore-Tex fabric; it has Gore C-Knit backer technology to make it even softer, lighter, and more breathable than the original.

A specially-engineered Optimal Visibility Hood adjusts with a single-pull cordlock system to make sure it fits over any sized helmet, or just your bare head, without compromising your line of sight when the storm rolls in. If you start to get a bit too hot while bootpacking, this jacket has watertight, two-way underarm zips to help you dump any excess heat throughout your trek. If you expect some tomahawking throughout the day, pre-emptively nip it in the bud by connecting the elasticized strap at the back to your Patagonia snow pants to prevent the jacket from riding up and allowing powder from getting in. Throw your keys, wallet, and phone in any of the multiple zippered pockets for safe keeping before strapping in.

Fantastic Jacket

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: L

After doing and extensive search for a great Gore Tex jacket for my partner, we finally settled on this one for her. She is able to use this for both touring and inbounds skiing.

As with everything Patagonia, it's well made and works great. It's definitely a lighter shell and will require some insulating layers on cold days.

This one will not be leaving my pack.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: Small

I haven't used this jacket much, but love it so far. The material is surprisingly supple for a 3 layer gore tex jacket. I biked in it and took for a wet pre-winter hike. I was stoked with how well this jacket breathed and kept me dry all at the same time. Patagonia nailed the balance of just enough functions yet at a very light weight. I got a small, and it was surprisingly big compared to a similar jacket I had in the past. Overall I'm very happy with this piece.

Do you have decent room to layer (I'm your same size/weight, so wanted to check)?

Hey Windy,

I bought this for my mom and she loves it, I just reached out to her and she had plenty of room to layer. She said she had the Patagonia R1 Fleece and also the Patagonia Nano Air as her two layering pieces while she was snowshoeing last weekend and she wasn't restricted in movement at all. Feel free to reach out to me directly if you have anymore questions. My contact info is above.
